I am one of these people that watches "The Goonies" two or three times a year, so I'd certainly call myself a fan. However, I actually only found out that there was a novel a few weeks ago, and now I've read it, I feel better mentally. A major turn-off for some would be the typos. Questo adattamento letterario del film cult omonimo degli anni 80, I Goonies appunto, mi ha conquistato e, sinceramente, mi ha anche fatta venire molta malinconia, perché in fondo (e per fortuna aggiungerei) i Goonies siamo stati tutti noi da bambini, quando sognavamo, nella nostra monotona e ordinaria vita quotidiana, di vivere mille avventure e di trovare tesori nascosti! Alcune battute iconiche sono rimaste e l’ho adorato, perché sono battute che spesso dico ancora; altre mancavano.On my first playthrough I did it solo. None of my family have the same love for The Goonies that I do. So, I thought I’d step through a game to see how it played. The game plays very simply and is easy to understand. It’s a Dungeon Crawl game which makes perfect sense. You move from room to room, searching for “rich stuff” encountering hazards (pit traps and cave-ins) and creatures (mostly bats and rats). Defeat them and move on to the next room. This is the optimal scenario – a family playing an RPG-style game based around a movie that is a family favorite. The parents get to enjoy a classic story from their childhood and the kids get to enjoy it through play and excitement.

Rummaging through the Walshes' attic, they come across a 1632 doubloon and an old treasure map purporting to lead to the treasure of legendary pirate "One-Eyed Willy", believed to be located somewhere nearby. Mikey considers One-Eyed Willy to be the original Goonie. Seeing the treasure as their last chance to save their homes, the kids overpower and bind Mikey's older brother Brand and make their way to an abandoned restaurant on the coast that coincides with the map. Mr. Perkins shows us his wealth by being able to turn the goonies’ homes into a golf course for the country club. This also shows us that not only does he have power but that his son Troy carries power from his father’s upper-class status by the car he drives and the way he treats people. Troy isn’t a main character in this film but he shows the male masculinity and makes his heterosexuality known by trying to look up Andy’s skirt in the car and telling his friends that he hasn’t “made it with her yet and I stress yet”. Archived from the original on December 26, 2003.I enjoyed the additional character depth and insight added to this version of the story, but I feel like the first-person POV harmed the way the overall story was told, especially regarding the group of villains the Fratellis. Having the entire story told from the perspective of a single Goony (Mikey) lessened the scope of the narrative, the action and the involvement of the rest of the cast (which is too damn good to ignore) and it makes me view the film as being superior in almost every way. Still a fun and nostalgic read, but there's just no beating the movie.
