Its curves are significantly more noticeable than the FG800’s, a design feature that makes this a sexy guitar, and the curves also allow the guitar to produce the most beautiful mid-tones, hence the use of this guitar for a wide variety of musical styles.

My biggest complaint with Yamahas is that they tend to have a very high action. Some people prefer a higher action so this is partially personal preference but I definitely prefer a lower action. A new FG has louder and stronger sound in the low- to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the Yamaha R&D Division. This is a narrower width than the traditional width but it’s fast becoming the standard width on acoustic guitars. The FG800 was a top player during our test sessions. It was big and bold, and far outperformed its price tag (and our expectations). It was well set up right out of the box, with a nice medium height action,The FG800 is a classic dreadnought style acoustic guitar, very much modeled after the Martin D-18. Like almost all Yamaha acoustics, it had a very low key design, nothing particularly flashy, just a well executed, contemporary look. When strummed, we found it to be an incredibly responsive guitar. The bracing has been improved since its predecessor, the FG700, which has resulted in improved dynamics. When we softened our touch, the guitar sounded sweet and rich, and when strummed hard the tones tightened up significantly.Taking these two body types into consideration, the FS800 is more versatile and comfortable thanks to the Grand Concert body compared to FG800’s Dreadnought body.
