While 2.0P and 2.1P were very close in shade, 2.0N appeared much lighter on my skin than both of the pink undertone shades. I will apply shade 2.1P and mix a little shade 2.0N in to lighten and brighten my under-eye area. The Ordinary offers two foundations: The Ordinary Coverage Foundation and The Ordinary Serum Foundation. Both foundations come in 21 shades and are oil-free. Three of the shades have an additional letter at the end: S indicates Silver highlights and G indicates Gold highlights; these shades use natural-looking and exceptionally fine dispersions of metallic effect pigments for added highlight. The Ordinary will introduce individual enhancers and highlighters in the near future to customize all shades. The shades are divided into three tiers of light, medium, and dark, which are then varied by pink, red, yellow, and neutral tones. If you are familiar with the skincare brand The Ordinary, makeup may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you think about The Ordinary. I’ve never used a primer that was so fluid before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Leave it to The Ordinary to pleasantly surprise with this lightweight and non-greasy primer. The shades are divided into four categories: 1 for fair to lighter tones, 2 for medium tones; and 3 for darker tones. Each category is then classified further by a second digit from 0 to 3 to indicate depth within each category. Finally, a letter is added to the shade code to identify the undertone: P (Pink) and R (Red) indicate cool undertones for lighter and darker shades respectively; N indicates a Neutral tone; Y indicates a Yellow undertone. Each shade code has a descriptive name as well. For example, 1.2P is Light with Pink Undertones while 3.0Y is Medium Dark with Yellow Undertones.

The Ordinary Serum Foundation is a lightweight medium coverage foundation. Even though this foundation is oil-free, it blends in so easily, just like an oil-based foundation. It feels nourishing yet super lightweight and never heavy or greasy. EXCELLENT FOUNDATION! I have bought the 1.2P (pink tones) and 1.2N (neutral/warm), both in serum and full coverage and love, love them! The formula of The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer is similar to a serum. This primer increases the spreadability of makeup while smoothing your skin. It also minimizes uneven makeup application. This is particularly helpful if you have dry or patchy skin. It blends better and lasts longer when applied after The Ordinary primers and doesn’t settle into fine lines. One other interesting note is that The Ordinary states that due to the pigment suspension system used in these products, shades tend to look quite natural on the skin. As a result, three or more shades will work for most skin tones.
