Harley and Red Tool meet and his hostility also fails to materialize. What he feels for Harley is quite different and the comic takes us on a dizzying roller coaster ride as Tool pulls one surprise after another on Harley and the reader. It turns out that Red Tool may not quite be who he seems in his initial appearance and Harley has a decision to make about him.

I’ve reviewed and read so many bad Harley comics, I started to think no one could write the character anymore. I now see that the people who know how to write the character are RIGHT HERE! They just have to be given more of a chance. Respect is in short supply after that. This is the volume in which we are introduced to Red Tool, an ordinary human who becomes different in a way that Bane did. The result of surgery gone awry, this former soldier becomes mostly immune to pain, gains a metal arm and has a deep, unhealthy fixation about Harley. Longtime friends Dini and Mandel talked to DC Nation about their contributions to the series and the enduring, ever-evolving versatility of Harley Quinn.

Step 5: Layer on glitter.

This limited series has something to offer for every Harley Quinn aficionado as it shows the many and varied aspects of the character and from many continuities. There are stories of the silly and kooky Harley Quinn from the core series and the psychotic madwoman found in Suicide Squad. It also goes beyond the core of the DC Universe and has stories from Batman: The Animated Series, Batman: The White Knight, Harleen, and Harley Quinn the animated series. That’s how I feel about Harley. Her crazy, violent, yet sympathetic clown persona is always going to work better when she’s a villain. That isn’t even getting into what I’ve said a million times now: it doesn’t make sense for Harley to be affirming that Joker is her ex and that she’s changed when she’s still using the same motif. However, that is not to say that you can’t tell an interesting story of Harley reforming, and that’s what this story is all about. Ryan Parrot Gets it Right One of the biggest problems, if not the biggest problem with Harley today, is that writers at DC have forgotten what her voice is supposed to sound like. They just write her as a generic, loud, gross, looney tune. Other writers attempt to do Harley’s traditional voice, but still make it a little too grating, and therefore, fail at the comedy. Kelly Thompson NAILS Harley’s traditional voice – the voice she’s supposed to have – perfectly! She also handles the comedy of the character well! Getting It All Right

Writers Amanda Conner (BEFORE WATCHMEN: SILK SPECTRE) and Jimmy Palmiotti (JONAH HEX) and artists John Timms (Deadpool) and Chad Hardin (DEMON KNIGHTS) introduce the new character that will have Harley seeing red! Harley Quinn is the super villain of DC Comics. The psychologist who was originally appointed to treat The Joker was attracted by the crazy personality of the Joker and became a patient obsessed with him. Harley Quinn is a violent and unpredictable felon because the clown's cruel and capricious nature makes Harley Quinn another victim of him in a sense.

How to DIY Harley Quinn Makeup

Dal punto di vista grafico, si poteva fare di meglio, ma qui entra in gioco il gusto verso un disegnatore. Continuing to expand her horizons, Amanda illustrated the best-selling crossover “Painkiller Jane vs. the Darkness”, and went on to work on “Painkiller Jane” #0 (the origin book). She also wrote and illustrated a story for “Kid Death and Fluffy”. I wish we had a chance to see more wrap-up about the Gang of Harleys or what was going to happen to the wax museum (the one Harley is running for Madame Macabre while she’s off helping Mason). I’m thinking Rebirth dropped too suddenly for the authors to have much of a chance at wrapping everything up, but I could be wrong. Still a shame. This is the final book of the OG Conner/Palmiotti run and coincided with the 2016 movie's release, and the one where she gets a mini make-over and she becomes the blonde most people know her as from the movies/TV show. I was waiting for that tbh! Despite my blasting the last story, I will say that it was nice to read a Harley book where I could recognize that I was reading Harley Quinn. Noticeably, every writer so far has chosen to write Harley as a villain here. That shows how people are still viewing the character apart from editorial constraints. However, we can still see the confusion about who Harley is even supposed to be as a character. We can also see that DC just doesn’t have the greatest pool of writers to pull from right now.

Surprised at how emotionally affecting the little vignette with Harley at the old folks home was; maybe I'm just a big sap for overt kindness but Harley helping the widower with the bird bumped the whole book up from "alright" to "like." Although it's still unknown what part Harley Quinn will play in The Suicide Squad, a behind-the-scenes video showed Harley in vibrant red dress seemingly on her own mission in the movie. Gunn has remained coy on whether or not he killed Harley Quinn off in The Suicide Squad. Given her immense popularity with fans, it's hard to imagine that Gunn will actually kill her off, but that's the fun behind the mystery of the movie. After all, Gunn was given free license to kill off any character he wanted. I was very pleasantly surprised by this collection. The first sign of Red Tool was not impressive, but he managed to grow on me, especially when he (or Amanda Conner through him) perfectly encapsulated what it is that makes Harley such a fascinating character; all of her inconsistencies and hypocritical stances nailed down into one long but accurate description. To my surprise, this is ANOTHER good Harley story! I was a little bit concerned when I saw the very exaggerated facial expressions on Harley, that she would be written very obnoxiously in the story. I was wrong, though. Like Kelly Thompson, Brett and Stein nail Harley’s voice and personality! I’ll confess that despite my slight annoyance with Red Tool there were some parts of his story that literally made me laugh out loud. Like the bit where he tattooed his phone number on Harley’s butt. Priceless!

We lost an insanely entertaining dynamic when DC banned Harley and Joker. Joker lost the only partner that ever worked with him and showed a different side of him. Harley Quinn lost what made her unique and so relatable to so many people. And I have to say, given the low sales of all of Harley’s subsequent “independent hero” work, I have to wonder if people really like who Harley is sans Joker, or if they just like the *idea* of her independence. Here she matches wits with the amorous mercenary Red Tool, takes control of a giant transforming robot and fight corporate land development with help from Poison Ivy. Harley schools basic thugs on how she would kill the Justice League, then outsmarts Batwoman in a foiled arrest. People can’t seem to help themselves when constantly undermining her intelligence, reducing her to a sex object, goofy lunatic, or pathetic victim. It is extremely satisfying whenever she proves these people wrong. Now, will this comic sell? Unfortunately, I don’t have high hopes for that. Anthologies, even for the most major comic book characters, tend to be overlooked. Harley is also still too over-exposed, and I can see people ignoring this book. There’s also the problem of anthologies, in general, presenting inconsistent work. This comic might be great, but the next collection could be mediocre or even bad. However, I gotta say, if you love the GOOD versions of Harley and you’ve got money to spend, BUY THIS COMIC!
