It's annoying that there are so many unanswered questions regarding the angels by the end of the book. Where are they coming from and why are they falling from the sky? Why are their wings slashed? And there’s a spoilery thing about Teacake that they do that I loved, and I sort of wish I could flail about it without being spoilery lol. But anyway, I really enjoyed that. For me, though I loved the idea of a queer mermaid, and I was excited by the rep at large, this really wasn't the book for me.

This is a book I probablydefinitely should have just written a mini-review of as soon as I finished it, but I was in a reading/writing/reviewing/blogging/life slump and I didn’t. Thompson, Sophie (19 October 2022). " 'Out by Christmas': Keir Starmer makes hilarious swipe at Liz Truss' new 'book title' ". Indy100. The Independent . Retrieved 20 October 2022.It’s hard to imagine that there is much appetite for knowing more about Truss. Even her most ardent supporters could probably do with knowing a little less. But here it is, nonetheless, a 300-leaved lettuce that was past its sell-by date before it reached the shelves. Truss maintains she is interested in outcome, not process. Seldom has a prime minister been more wrong about herself As the authors didn’t have the time, the research is minimal, and, apart from the fact that she had an 18-month affair with a senior Tory MP in her early career (which might show that she is either human or devoid of any ethics as long as her career can be helped), I did not learn anything new. Jason June tells the story of the merfolk Crest who has to spend one month on land (under the name Ross) and help a human, as part of the Journey, an ancient mer tradition. Said human happens to be Sean, the dreamy, chubby, lifeguard/school swimmer/wanna-be film director who got dumped by his boyfriend.

The other thing's that the worldbuilding is just window dressing! It's a prop in the story of Jaya's family issues. And that's a shame, because what worldbuilding is there is actually really interesting, and I want to know more! And I want Jaya's finding of the angel to mean something for this world, but it doesn't. It doesn't change anything. So there is so much to love about this book! I love the concept. I so want to know more about it all but actually feel that what we get is perfect. But will this is obviously a book about angels falling from the sky, this is also a book about relationships - family and romantic. I loved all elements of them.

I mean that every time Sean and Ross are together, it's basically entirely physical -- but equated with love. To the point where I kinda-sorta-maybe understand why Ross "loves" Sean; Sean organizes at least 2 dates that are sweet and demonstrate that he's aware of what Ross likes/needs. But I honestly have no idea why Sean "loves" Ross, except that he's attractive. Crest is also certain humans are awful, is really rude about people existing, and weirdly is super offended by people eating fish.... as if other sea creatures don't eat sea creatures. They're offended and looking for a fight for so much of this book. Heale tweeted in response: "Your copy is in the post, thanks @Keir_Starmer". [12] Private Eye accused Starmer of stealing the joke from the issue they had published that day, which referred to Out of the Blue as "Due out on 8 December. (The book, that is. Not its subject.)". [13]Crest was pretty cool mermaid. I liked how he ended up having an open mind. He was a perfect balance to Sean. I think they worked really well together. This book provides an insight into Liz Truss, her style as a political operator, and the evolution of her espoused beliefs. It describes in detail the circumstances that engendered her rise to becoming the most popular cabinet minister among Conservative members, securing sufficient support among the parliamentary party, and finally winning the members’ ballot. I think the book elucidates how success at each stage was disparate and distinctly gained and how contingent her victory perhaps was.

The champagne corks have barely finished popping in celebration of Faith's fifteen years of wedded bliss with Peter before a small, niggling doubt sets in. On the surface, Faith and Peter have a lot to be thankful for: two teenage children, an enduring partnership and glamorous media careers – he as a publisher, she as a TV weather girl.

Out of the Blue: The Inside Story of the Unexpected Rise and Rapid Fall of Liz Truss is a non-fiction book about the British politician Liz Truss, written by Harry Cole and James Heale, published as an ebook on 1 November 2022 and in print and audio on 24 November. Sean is the rom-com film director framing every life event (and most of the scenes in the book) as a framing shot. Cole and Heale finished writing the original version of Out of the Blue in early October. [5] It is the first published biography of Truss. [6] Government crisis and Truss's resignation [ edit ] Overall this was fun, and I thought worth the read! I usually have a very hard time reading books due to my ADHD and much prefer audiobooks, so it's a pretty high honor that I was able to finish this in just two days! (That and the fact that this book is pretty short which is definitely a strong plus in my book!)
