How many people are you feeding? We suggest freezing soup in containers based on how many people you plan on feeding. If you are preparing soup to serve one, we suggest freezing soup in single-serve containers like a small stasher bag or a 16 oz. freezer-safe container. Odour – our tests have found bags of both types can have residual food smell after being used and cleaned. But on the whole, we found silicone tends to hold more smell than PEVA. It may seem fussy, but if you toss hot soup into the freezer, it will develop large ice crystals and freeze unevenly. (Which means mushy soup when it thaws!) Cooling soup also protects the contents of your freezer. No one wants the hot soup’s steam to thaw out all the other food. Step 4: Avoid Freezer Burn If care is taken and freezing is done properly, then there should be absolutely no difference between your frozen soup and your fresh soup. It can taste just as good and be as healthy as the day it was made.

We rate how easy the bag seals are to open and close at the beginning and the end of our ease of use test. Durability/leakage Here’s a tip–>If you must prepare and freeze a creamy soup, we suggest making the soup without the cream, roux, cheese, etc. and freezing it as a brothy soup. Once you are ready to eat the soup, thaw the soup out, reheat it, and then add the creaming property right before serving! Plus, it's an added bonus that PEVA bags also tend to be cheaper than silicone bags. Here are some other differences: Odour – our tests have found bags of both types can have residual food smell after being used and cleaned. We found one type of bag tends to hold more smell than the other though.

Avoid the heartache of freezer burn and mushy leftovers by learning how to freeze soup.

Meat Chopper - this is a new-to-me tool and I can't believe I've gone so long without it. It makes cooking ground meat SO much easier! Use the defrost setting or set power to low and microwave soup for 5-10 minutes or until soup has thawed. Whatever you’re looking to store, we’ve got the right food bag for you. Foodsaver bags to keep food fresh and safe Soup can be found in so many forms that it’s impossible to cover all soup types in one freezing method. Below, we have outlined a few popular soups, so you know how to go about freezing them and whether it’s possible to do: How to Freeze Soup with Cream

Find a flat space in your freezer and place the soup in the freezer until your ready to eat it! Step Three Reheat Soup Being heavy gauge and gusseted, filling these freezer bags is very easy because they stand upright of their own accord, leaving your hands free for pouring. Taking up much less space in the freezer than ordinary storage boxes, they are helpfully graduated, and have strong press-seal fasteners to keep their contents secure. Heat soup in the microwave on high until soup reaches desired temperature. Don’t forget to add dairy + noodles! If you are feeding a family, a 32 oz. container, large stasher bag or gallon-size bag should work perfectly! Cool: Once you’ve made your soup, allow it to completely cool. You never want to place a hot (or even warm) dish into the freezer, so allow it to cool down. Durable kitchen bags can be re-used time and again, like the press-seal reusable freezer bags from Russbe. You’ll also find biodegradable food bags, made from fully biodegradable materials that are free from microplastics, like food and freezer bags from Biobag.
