Released amid the 1989 boom in gangsta rap, which gravitated towards hardcore, confrontational, violent lyrics, De La Soul's uniquely positive style made them an oddity beginning with the first single, "Me, Myself and I". They are best known for their eclectic sampling, quirky lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip-hop subgenres.

I thought they had come to an agreement on all the samples but Cool Breeze on The Rocks is not on this album. Thinly disguised under a layer of humor, their lyrical themes ranged from true love ("Eye Know") to the destructive power of drugs ("Say No Go") to Daisy Age philosophy ("Tread Water") to sex ("Buddy"). These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. They were influential in the early stages of rapper/actor Mos Def's career, and are a core part of the Spitkicker collective.

De La Soul is an American hip-hop group formed in 1988 in the Amityville area of Long Island, New York.Time for a trip down the technicolor road of the Daisy Age with De La Soul’s magnum opus, “3 Feet High and Rising. The album also features guest appearances from artists such as Damon Albarn, Little Dragon, David Byrne, 2 Chainz and Snoop Dogg.
