You’re all tripping balls if you think any country aside from Japan influences decisions made in 90+% anime (or more importantly, manga and light novels as that’s what most anime adapt from as opposed to being original) and even that’s probably a conservative estimate. And NGE starts of strong but loses steam half way when it becomes clear that even Anno doesn't really know what's going on anymore.
