As well as testing the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus & 2wayfix base, we at Mother & Baby have taken a look at other existing models from Maxi-Cosi to see how they compare to this model of car seat with a base system. Read our full review of each of the car seats below. Maxi-Cosi Pebble 360 with FamilyFix 360 Base I haven't personally spent time with those other speakers, but based on how great Pebble Plus sounds, I'd be hard-pressed to consider any of them over Creative's offering. Plus, I just think orbs are cool. Worth it even with the cable mess All the technical gubbins are housed in the subwoofer box so you need to connect your source to that rather than to one of the satellite speakers. Usefully, all the cables that Logitech supplies are 1.5m long so you can spread the units out.

The sound quality is excellent, with plenty of detail and a massive amount of bass if you turn the subwoofer up to 11. The S351DB is perhaps more at home with music and video sources than gaming because the system is tuned for warmth and balance rather than staccato detail but that subwoofer certainly gives gaming sound effects some serious impact. However, with the 2wayfix base being discontinued and the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus car seat being a few years old, with newer and more competitive products on the market - it begs the question, would this car seat still stand as well in the current market? FAQs Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus base compatibility? Too big for some cars: A few of our testers reported that they had trouble fitting it into their car as it was too large. Birth to 4 years+ option: You can upgrade the car seat as baby grows to adapt until up to four years old. Some speakers may also include a USB interface. This can be handy for smaller speakers, as it allows them to draw their power supply from the USB, with no need for any additional power cables. Speakers with a USB input option may also provide a DAC (digital to analogue converter) that’s capable of handling high-res audio files.

All three boxes are built from veneered MDF but there are no mesh grilles, making this a system that will appeal to users who want their speaker system to look “high tech” rather than “hi-fi”. Edifier even includes a remote control, although you can turn the system on and off and adjust the volume, treble and bass using controls on the side of the master satellite speaker, which also has a small and rather hard-to-read LED source indicator under the main driver. The higher price tag when you are purchasing the Pebble Plus with the 2wayFix Base may put some people off, but you can then use the same base with the 2wayPearl car seat, enabling you to rear face right up to four years old. Alert lights and safety sounds: The safety function alerts the user as to whether or not the seat is clipped into the ISOFIX fixing points correctly. The sheer size of the Nommo Pro makes it a poor choice for those short on desk space but if you have the room to accommodate it, it’s a powerful and versatile system that will enhance your audio experience whether you’re gaming, watching a movie or simply listening to some tunes.

Popular Pushchair Types

The one "flaw" I found with the sound — and it's a very forgivable one — is that the speakers don't really produce omnidirectional audio at all. You need to be sitting in front of them to really enjoy whatever you're listening to. Considering how the average person sits at a desk, that shouldn't be a problem. Unbeatable price Tape measure included: Measure was included to help you determine whether your child fits the car seats' measurements. This includes standardised crash testing for frontal collisions at 50km/h (30mph). In addition, Maxi-Cosi carry out its own frontal crash safety tests at 70km/h (40mph) and a variety of other side and frontal collision tests. When using the Isofix base, there is light and sound confirmation when you've installed the seat correctly. Some might find this annoying, but we loved knowing the seat was secure. You can also select between three audio modes using Razer’s Synapse 3 software: stereo, THX and Dolby Virtual Surround, giving you great flexibility in how you listen to music or enjoy in-game audio. And for lovers of RGB, the satellites provide minimalist lighting via thin LED strips on their bases.

Mother&Baby Tester, Mahjabeen said:"The base is easy to install and I like the reassuring ‘bleep’ when it’s fitted correctly. The seat looks comfortable and Zahra seems happy in it and loves banging her feet against the footrest. The over-the-shoulder straps are easy to fasten. It almost deserves full marks, but I feel some other seats offer better value." At Mother & Baby, we were assisted with help from our Mother & Baby Testers to review the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus & 2wayfix base. During the testing process, we were testing for its overall performance, usability and build. Here's what our testers had to say about the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus. The Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus isn't the most lightweight of infant carriers available, weighing in at 4.5kg. Transporting the seat is fine on its own, but once you add a larger baby, we wouldn't want to be carrying it for too long. The handle has three different positions and is rotated with two buttons at the side.Speakers with Bluetooth aptX technology avoid most of the sound-quality compromises that can mar the audio quality of lesser Bluetooth speakers. However, some high-end speakers also offer Wi-Fi connectivity, which uses your Wi-Fi network to deliver improved wireless sound quality. This often goes hand in hand with the option of linking multiple speakers together as part of a multiroom speaker system. Convenient: Fits into the ISOFIX fixing points with ease, easy to fasten clasps on the seat easily, straps are easily adjustable, taking the seat out is also easily done.

The 60-watt Class D amplifier delivers 30 watts to each speaker, and this pushes the 4.5in woofer and 0.75in tweeter to surprisingly high volumes. Sound quality is good too, with enough bass to give music a decent amount of weight, and a high-end that reveals detail in everything from Zoom calls to delicate classical works. Hood with rubber eyelets: Hood shields their eyes from the sun while the rubber eyelets keep the hood securely in place. For a complete travel system, this Maxi-Cosi car seat is compatible with various pushchairs Testing the Maxi-Cosi Pebble Plus & 2wayfix baseOne major benefit of the Pebble Plus is how easy it is to install. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow when using a seat belt or the Isofix base. Bose is possibly one of the most divisive audio brands there is. Some people swear by the quality of its kit and will regale you with tales of the ‘Bose sound’ while others will say it’s a triumph of marketing over sound quality. Maxi-Cosi is a well-known brand in the car seat market and has a good reputation for thoroughly testing its own products. The Pebble Plus carries the orange ECE R44 approved label which means it complies with European safety standards (UN R129), as all car seats should. The front of the speakers has no grill, not even an optional one, which I don't mind myself, especially since the splash of gold on the drivers looks pretty nice. But some might lament the omission. A more significant source of annoyance is the messy cables. Since I didn't have the adapter, I can't say whether or not it makes a big difference, but I can say it's not necessary at all. Creative Pebble Plus pumps out very high-quality audio for the price, thanks to deep bass and rich higher elements of the sound. The speakers are respectful to whatever you're listening to, producing room-filling audio that elevates the subtler nuances of a song even at a higher volume.
