This is a whole generation of newer technology and lessons have been learned. It’s a wholly usable product, brimming with clever technology and capabilities. Most users would have few issues using it as a daily smartphone. But it is. Take the Z Flip to the pub, as I did before the virus hit, place it on the bar counter and open the screen. Conversation ceases. Eyes pop. “No way” is heard, along with “show me that again”. You show it folding and grown men squeal with delight. It takes a few moments to register that what has traditionally been a hard, inflexible screen, with a propensity to smash if you drop it on the floor, actually bends. And not just flex a little, but fold by 180 ̊. No, regardless of the color of FlipFold Adult or FlipFold Junior, all operate the same way. FlipFold Adult folds to 9" x 12", FlipFold Junior folds to 7" x 10". Colors may vary slightly from images on flipfold.com as each dye lot is separately mixed.

The white line on the hinges shows that there is memory in the hinge. As soon as a FlipFold comes off the assembly line, the hinges are "flexed" (which creates the white line) to ensure longevity. Samsung has been making folding smart phones longer than any other manufacturer, and it shows. The fifth-generation Galaxy Z Flip5 ( 7/10, WIRED Recommends) is a polished flip-style handset with an IPX8 water resistance rating and a silent hinge. It closes completely flat without leaving a gap in the middle, and this iteration has a much larger cover screen on the front. This lets you look at large widgets like the calendar, weather, step count, and timer—plus notifications with the ability to respond to them via a full-size keyboard—without opening the device up. You can launch a few apps too but your options are limited (and you need to toggle them on). Folding flip phones are for people who want a compact device. Think of a normal phone you can fold in half. That's pretty much what you get, plus a screen on the front to monitor some widgets and texts. This does mean you can flip the phone to answer a call and flip it shut to end one—super cool. You can put the phone at a 90-degree angle and some apps will adapt to show controls on the bottom, and important details at the top like in video calling apps, or when watching videos on YouTube, though this depends on the phone. Folding flip phones typically have mediocre battery life and the cameras are not as good as their nonfolding counterparts. Picture quality was perfectly good, if somewhat processed and tweaked. And on the subject of tweaking, there are lots of settings to play around with on both cameras, even if most won’t be necessary for most users. There’s even a dedicated “Food” mode for those of us who like to take pictures of culinary delights and disasters. The Z Flip’s speed can be summed up quite simply: it will be fast enough to last you for the full lifetime of the phone, so no need to worry. If you do care about such things, though, note that the Snapdragon 855+ chip is based on three clusters – cluster one is four cores at 1.79GHz, cluster two contains three cores at 2.42GHz and cluster three is a single core running at 2.96GHz. The end result is a score of 761 in Geekbench 5’s single-core test and 2,604 in the multicore section (above). Compare that to the iPhone 11 family and it’s slow; compare it to the phone that it’s likely to replace and it’s stupendously fast. Likewise in the graphical GFXBench, where it returned 60fps in the Manhattan 3 onscreen test and 100fps in the off-screen test at 1080p (below). The problem with folding phones that open up like a book is the front screen—it's what you will use 70 percent of the time, and yet many of them were initially so narrow and not all that pleasant to use. The Pixel Fold ( 8/10, WIRED Recommends) changed things up with a shorter and wider design, so the 5.8-inch AMOLED front screen mimics the normal smartphone experience. Apps don't look super skinny anymore! Open it up to access the large 7.6-inch inner display. The whole thing is fairly thin too—for a folding phone—though this is one of the heavier smartphones out there. Yes. We use Authorize.net to process credit cards securely. Folding linens with FlipFold will allow for a consistently crisp, uniform fold.

Yes, each FlipFold has instructions engraved on the center flap, and each FlipFold comes with an instruction sheet. Folding instructions are also available here. Visit our FlipFold YouTube channel for FlipFold "how-to" videos. FlipFold, first made on my kitchen counter to fold my girls' laundry, is now manufactured in the USA and distributed around the world. Let's face it, we all have a lot of folding to do, why not do it in seconds and get a perfect fold every time? I promise you once you try the FlipFold for folding clothes, you will be on your way to organizing clutter built up in your closets and you will wonder how you ever lived without it! Necessity may be the mother of invention, but in my case, my daughters were my inspiration for FlipFold, the Ultimate Folding Tool. Being the mother of two girls can be a challenging task, especially when it comes to folding laundry. The kid's closets and drawers were consistently a mess. They could never find anything, and when they did, the clothes were usually wrinkled. I pleaded with them, "Girls, when you do your laundry, fold clothes neatly and to the same size. Your rooms will be more organized with less clutter; your clothes will be neat and wrinkle-free." My oldest girl responded, "We can't fold clothes Mom, it's too hard and folding clothes takes too long". I thought about what she said, and realized that she was right, we needed a laundry organizer to help us with our folding. I started brainstorming on different ideas for organizing clutter. I thought about the challenges of folding clothes and what a laundry organizer would need to make folding easier. Then it hit me; a laundry organizer could help more than just my kids. In fact, I heard that complaint in all areas of the garment industry.

FlipFold is made from polypropylene plastic. We are proud to say FlipFold is manufactured in the U.S.A. They predominantly come in two different forms—a folding flip phone or a folding book-like phone—enabling you to either relive the glory days of a small phone or expand your multitasking options while on the go. The best folding phone is going to be a personal decision—arguably even more than a traditional smartphone since it hinges on what style you prefer. Regardless, I have tested nearly every one of these phones, and these are my favorites. Coming to a conclusion about this phone is hard. Last year’s flexible offerings – whether from Huawei, Royole or Samsung – were most definitely early engineering prototypes. And the Samsung offering should never have been released, outside of a few thousand “work in progress” loan units to whet the appetites of influencers. They should not have been put on sale to the general public. They are more fragile than normal phones. Folding phones have a lot more parts than a normal smartphone, not to mention a hinge. Companies advertise how many folds these devices have been tested for—usually around 200,000 or 500,000 folds—but a single drop can be incredibly damaging. They also are not as dust-resistant and some aren't as water-resistant (almost none of them are IP78 rated), so you'll want to be especially careful. Use a case, and it might be worthwhile to invest in the manufacturer's device care policy. Large retailers like Nike, Sports Authority, Federated Department Stores, Bass Pro Shops, as well as pro sports teams, stadiums, screen printers, uniform companies, and even the FBI use FlipFold, The Ultimate Folding Tool, to save time, money and enhance presentation.

FlipFold has 5 bumpers, 4 with rubber cushions, which allow for easy handling and non-skid performance on countertops, washers, or any surface you choose to fold on. The feet/bumpers also allow you to slide your hands underneath the FlipFold for easy handling when folding. Whichever style you go for, my favorite feature of folding phones is the ability to see the viewfinder on the external screen and snap a selfie with the high-quality rear cameras—just set the phone down slightly folded so it stays upright!
