Description

The Sun: A young witch sits on a donkey, with a brilliant sun behind her. The donkey seems to be sneezing and the witch looks like she might fall off. Neither of them looks happy. How does this relate to either traditional notions of the sun, or even to the LWB: “Clear ideas, power, success, truth, crucial choice, communication, happiness, friendship, stubbornness.” OK, maybe the donkey is stubborn. Other than that…

This doesn’t necessarily make Wicca any less valid as a religion. It just makes that its historical claims about having an ancient lineage are not grounded in fact. I have written at length about whether Christianity is compatible with the occult or whether it’s possible to be a Christian pagan. The companion guide is well written, but very short. I’d have loved to have full descriptions of the reversed card meanings (instead of keywords) and correspondences. Wicca is essentially a religion. Some Wiccans may or may not engage in the magical practice of witchcraft. You are definitely in a more spiritual and intuitive stage than ever. So it is important that you trust your instincts and feelings even if you don’t know where they come from. Similarly, it does not give you doubts, but helps you realize that: Things are not always as they look. If you feel like you cannot trust someone, chances are that is the case. Trust your senses. If you are waiting for someone’s reply, it may take a long time to get it. Try to be patient. The depiction of the Courts: the four greater Sabbats were the original witches' holidays, according to European traditional lore, and are considered to be the most powerful for those who follow the Craft as a profession, rather than an agriculturally-based religious practice. The Moons are well designed also, and have all four phases of lunar magical practice equally represented, showing a crucial tie to Traditional Craft. The Trials are the big giveaway, however: the four Trials are essentially the traditional burdens of the witch, the four Trials attached to the four Pillars of the Magus, the Witches' Pyramid. Finally, the uses of the four Goddesses are a clever reference to the four major European goddesses of traditional Craft practice, and are a very subtle statement of the witch-cults in Europe, and their four major seats of historical presence (Greece, Rome/Italy, Germany, and the British Isles). Tarot journal printable for Beginner Witches, Daily Three Card Spread, Daily Tarot Journal, Daily Tarot Spread, A4, A5, US Letter, Pdf The symbols used on the Major trumps are all based around traditional lore. The Emperor, a card representing authority and dominion in traditional Tarot, is represented quite effectively by a witches' hat, showing that a witch's power has the attached responsibility of its use, and that the maintenance of one's witchdom, or sphere of influence, is very important. The Green Man in the center of the World Witches Tarot smiles at us with foliage surrounding his face and branches woven into a crown. The branches that sprout from the Green Man’s head are an imitation of the antlers of the God of Nature. For the Witch, the Green Man is a wonderful and sensual representation or the model of the mystical and magical powers of the natural world. It is a perfect representation of the final card of Major Arcana as the Green Man and the World are both symbols of revival, rebirth, and regeneration. III. Message of the World Witches Tarot

The answer to both these questions is a resounding yes: Christian paganism and Christian occultism is in fact a coherent approach to spirituality. While it might be seen as heretical by mainstream Christianity, the entire history of Christianity is one long story of one Christian group calling the other heretics. Two of Flames: A girl with a flaming torch draws a line on the ground with her wand, creating a barrier to the hate and anger being thrown at her by another witch. Calm and intention are all you need to protect yourself. Creation of person “grimoires,” or “shadowbooks” that are essentially personal recipe books for spellwork As we can see there is no clear-cut answer to the question of whether Tarot cards are witchcraft, for what one person might consider “witchcraft” another person might simply consider thinking that Nature is nice and should be venerated.

On one end of the spectrum, there are supernatural or psychic approaches that rely on beliefs involving the supernatural. I wasn’t initially sure about the approach to the 3 of Athames but it has grown on me. As the lady walks towards her house you can see it’s in need of repair and the door is ajar. Has she been robbed? Did she forget to close the door? Did she deliberately leave it open? To be honest I can’t tell you if these ideas come to mind like they do because of my tarot knowledge or whether they are based purely of the card’s imagery. Either way, I find the messages powerful and worthy of contemplation. What’s going on? What role does she have to play in the situation? And what decisions is she going to make about the best way forward? The presence of the swan adds another layer for me. Even though the book ascribes transformation, change, quest and manifestation to the swan, that is not what comes to mind for me. For me, the swan represents grace and therefore I predominantly read the card through that lens, yet I don’t complete dismiss the creator’s associations because they can add another layer. On the one end of the spectrum you have theists and polytheists or various kinds, or people who believe strongly in the existence of supernatural forces and entities.

Upright keywords: The Granny Aspect of the Goddess (Crone), the magic of the waning moon, protective magic, seeing what others hide, the intuition and development of psychic abilities, acquired wisdom through years of life experience. The World Witches Tarot signals that you are really feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders. Which means it is not a comfortable position. This is the best time to see how well you can ask for help when you really need it. Remember that you don’t have to do everything yourself. This card can be considered a card of completion. You have worked hard and you are close to the finish line in a sense. You are almost done, don’t give up! You almost certainly need a well-deserved vacation. You are getting closer to your “true self” at the highest levels.Hecate shows us there is more to see than we imagine, such as a beautiful instead of pale and wrinkled old lady. Miracles are everywhere, even in the most unexpected places. From now on, look closely, what will Hecate and the moonlight reveal to you? III. Message of the Moon Witches Tarot Wicca itself is famous for its dualistic theology where essentially you have a masculine Horned God and a feminine Goddess of some kind.

Modern neopaganism is a big umbrella and the beliefs of people who associate with paganism or witchcraft are extremely diverse. But speaking to any particular Christian who might be reading this: if you are interested in the Tarot but are worried that it might be “witchcraft,” let me assure you that it’s perfectly valid to take a purely psychological approach to the Tarot that sees it as essentially a psychological tool for self-reflection, story-telling, and creativity. Wicca was introduced to the British public in 1954 by Gerald Gardner. Prior to this, it had been developed as a private religious practice by Gardner and others for a number of decades. On the other end of the spectrum, there are purely secular approaches to the Tarot that focus on its potential as a tool for reflection, introspection, and psychoanalysis.

Given its individualistic and eclectic flavor, not all witches will engage in all of these practices. Everyone will have their own unique approach. It should be noted that modern New Age witchcraft often intersects with what is called the Western Esoteric Tradition or the Western Hermetic Tradition. These are the types of spiritual practices often shared among a growing segment who consider themselves “spiritual but not religious.” Traditions forms of witchcraft
