Usually when you break open a UK bar the caramel makes a run for it but although smooth and runny, it pretty much stayed within its little dome house. But if you ask us, it’s the best in the world at doing what chocolate is supposed to do – little bite-sized bursts of exquisite pleasure.

Square shaped with domes filled with caramel, it’s as if they’ve taken the caramel one step further in the cooking process as the caramel was a lot richer and considerably less sweet than the UK version.

Our youngest daughter wouldn’t even finish the second piece, she considered it “dark chocolate” — and therefore evil! somewhat richer and more chocolatey and creamy - like the Dairy Milk we all used to love before Mondelez tampered with the recipe! It certainly looked better than the silly "curve shaped" blocks that Cadbury/Mondelez have introduced to UK Dairy Milk bars!

Although the new shape is a little thinner and less chunky than the old one, each individual bar weighs exactly the same. They mention that the different flavours are great, the quality of the chocolatier flavours is brilliant, and the selection is excellent. Likewise I am pretty sure the tiffin and the turkish delight are only made and distributed in Ireland also and not available in the UK. After Mondelez bought Cadbury in 2010, many feared that they would replace the classic Dairy Milk formula with a new chocolate, but that has proven not to be the case. Cadbury Ireland built its first Irish factory at Ossory Road, Dublin in 1933, at the time, the company manufactured and sold just three products.

But believe it or not, Cadbury’s have also been producing their famous chocolate in Ireland for over a hundred years. Alas it was still worth it for me to try flavours new to me and to verify the classics taste as I remember them. My fellow bloggers have said that the Irish Cadbury Dairy Milk is by far superior than the UK version, and now that the Snack Warrior present fairy sent me a couple, I am going to see for myself.

Cadbury products can be found all over the world, from the United Kingdom to Australia and South Africa, and many places in between. In February 2015, the company announced it was closing its Tallaght plant and moving some of its production from Coolock to Poland, resulting in the loss of about 200 jobs. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.a little more sticky than the UK version, but a lot more flavoursome - it was kind of buttery with a slight butterscotch taste. MILK**, sugar, cocoa butter, cocoa mass, vegetable fats (palm, shea), emulsifiers (E442, E476), flavourings. It’s this generous dose of milk which gives Cadbury’s chocolate its legendary richness and makes it Britain’s favourite chocolate, year after year. Thinking wistfully of Flake bars, Creme Eggs, and squares of Dairy Milk bars, we took a look at the history of Cadbury’s chocolate empire. If I hadn’t been part of the taste test and actually read the labels for myself I wouldn’t believe this… but its true!During World War II, Cadbury's was forced to remove Dairy Milk from shelves, as the government banned manufacturers from using fresh milk.
