Past Scripter Awards". USC Scripter Award. Archived from the original on February 22, 2021 . Retrieved November 8, 2021. The world building was really bad. I mean, it was really non existent. As in, had nothing. The city of Angelthene was very isolated. I have no clue how the actual world works or anything about the forms of government.

The atmospheric world-building and its magic system were beautifully supported by an immersive and precisely woven writing.KCFCC Award Winners – 1990-99". kcfcc.org. 14 December 2013. It’s one of the few books that has the right to claim it’s for Sarah J. Mass fans. There were plenty of similarities while also maintaining different storylines.

The “Mother of Monsters”. Echidna was half a winged woman with glittering eyes and half a huge, scaly serpent. She had a seductive woman's face and a reptile’s body. She was immortal and used to drag her victims to earth-shattered pits where she liked to devour them alive. She was living in a cave, deep down beneath the Earth. In Greek mythology, Echidna gave birth to many famous monsters that we encounter in Greek myths. As mentioned above, her mate was the monster Typhon. After their defeat by the Olympians and the banishment of Typhon, Echidna and her offspring lived on to challenge future heroes. Echidna, like other female monsters that had the upper body of a beautiful woman and the lower body of any sort of dragon, was part of the Dracaenae (female dragon monsters). Other well-known Dracaenae were Ceto and Scylla (see further below). This book is actually perfect to me. I really LOVE EVERYTHING! It was beyond my expectations to be honest. The banter between them OH MY😩 This is one of my favorite romances ever. The romance was drawn out perfectly, it’s very slow burn but SO rewarding. The chemistry between Loren and Darien is is off the charts, it had me fanning myself. They just deserve happiness and must be protected at all costs. I loved how the hero and heroine definitely had attraction from the beginning, but there was no insta-lust or insta-love. Despite it being quite the slow burn, the entire novel still felt very romantic, it was a big part of the story and the internal conflict of the characters aside from the problems they were dealing with externally together. The chemistry between the MMC and FMC was lovely, and their growing affection was totally believable and realistic. There is some satisfying steam (explicit, not FTB), and I've been lead to believe there will be even more in the upcoming book(s). Cerberus was the famous three-headed dog, pet of Hades, the god of the Underworld. He was standing guard at the Gates of the Underworld, making sure that no dead soul would escape and no living man would enter the realm of the dead. Besides his three terrifying heads, he also had a serpent for a tail. Only two heroes managed to defeat this monster; Heracles (Hercules) and Orpheus. Heracles managed to defeat him with his strength while Orpheus made him fall asleep with his music. Cerberus was a child of Typhon and Echidna. He had a brother from the same parents, a two-headed dog called Orthrus. Now let’s talk about how similar this book was to SJM. Yes this book has the same “vibes” as CC, but also it’s too similar. What I am about to write is basically just ranting from here on.

review | City of Gods and Monsters by Kayla Edwards

It's hard to give a proper summary to the story because there is so much more to it but I'll try my best.

15. Cerberus

I CRIED ACTUAL TEARS. Actual tears. I was very invested in every scene of this book. It was never a boring moment with these characters and I experience actual 2nd hand embarrassment. I loved Dallas, Max, Ivy. There is not a cliffhanger in the book. I think? HAHA! I really want the physical copy. ITS SO LOVELY AF! WGA Awards: Previous Nominees and Winners".
