Description

I am not a collector of horology pieces, much less someone who is professionally dedicated to the care or maintenance of watches, therefore I cannot say in depth if it is actually an excellent tool for rough and constant use. This review will cover my experience with the Bergeon 6767-F spring bar tool and how it compares to lower cost brands available online at a fraction of its price. History of Bergeon Watch Tools The Bergeon 7767-F is the latest version of the Swiss firm's industry-standard spring bar tool and is used by many thousands of watchmakers worldwide, featuring a textured barrel that ensures a tight and accurate grip.

The one-piece tips are machined from hardened tempered steel and are made to the Swiss level of quality we’ve come to expect. They are flawlessly finished with no burrs or rough edges unlike the lower quality alternatives on the market. Both the fork and pin tips have a long threaded base to screw into the body. The long threads are secured deep into the handle body to ensure the tips are able to withstand the high torque and pressure need to remove strong spring bars.

I agree with the review, but watch out for breaking the pointed tip. I have broken two of them (thanks for the link so I can now buy one :), so I think I need to be very gentle and careful with those. I think thi tool is overpriced. I own it (the fine version) and the screws loosen all the time. And as a reader said the tip breaks very easily, not good for adjusting bracelet. My previous chinese noname tool was more robust. Reply I decided to acquire a very essential spring bar tool to be able to exchange the steel bracelet for a leather strap (just for a change) or simply when I clean my watch, I have to remove the steel bracelet to remove the dirt that accumulates more deeply constantly in all spaces of the watch, it is my daily driver that more I can say. Bergeon has been manufacturing tools, equipment, and furniture for watchmakers and enthusiasts in Switzerland since 1791. Located in La Chaux-de-Fonds Switzerland, Bergeon employs over 60 people to research, design, and manufacture tools that watchmakers around the world depend on to provide consistent results for their customers.

A tool from Bergeon is the spring bar tool 7825, which is the tool we are going to look closer at in this article. The Bergeon 6767-F spring bar tool is the industry standard spring bar tool and is used by many thousands of watchmakers worldwide. Every watchmaker and watch enthusiast needs a good spring bar tool. With the help of a spring bar tool, you can remove the spring bars which are attached to the case of a watch and remove or exchange the strap or bracelet.

Fair Prices

To many, this tool seems so simple that technically, they should all be very similar, which should mean you could just buy the cheapest tool out there to get the job done. But this assumption could not be more incorrect, and this is something that a lot of people discover when they try a high-quality, premium spring bar tool, from previously having used a cheap and basic alternative. These are very simple instruments with, at their most basic, a forked end that allows you to pry spring bars from between your watch's lugs. Many have a different size tool at each end or another tool, like a pusher pin, and some are removable/reversible to add even more functionality. We're going to discuss how to use its most fundamental feature: the forked tip for classic spring bar removal. Most watches use spring bars to keep the bracelet or strap in place and to remove the spring bars, you need a good tool. But with that said, not all spring bar tools are created equal.
