Over half of all the visual artists working today are women, but the paintings and sculptures shown in many galleries and museums tell a different story because they're usually the work of men.

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World | The Musical Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World | The Musical

The show itself follows the story of Jade, who is in year 6 at school, and they take a school trip to the museum. The Bloomsbury Children’s Team THE AIM ABOUT THE BOOKS

Head out of the main entrance towards The Foundry Pub, walk past the pub with it on your left and straight up South Street until you come to The Cross (stone monument) which indicates an intersection of four streets. Continue straight ahead up North Street. At the top of North Street is a ring road, take the pedestrian underpass to North Gate Car Park and continue through the car park to reach the Theatre on the far side. BusDoes she think we might be guilty of overloading the next generation with the responsibility to fix the mistakes of the past? “It’s something I think about more and more as the series has gone on, that it’s a throwaway thing to say, ‘You can change the world’ and a lot of pressure to put on them by asking how are you going to save the planet? But hopefully I break it down so it feels not too overwhelming.” Six The Musical is also contributing to women’s history in the theatre, but it is centred around one man and his wives, whereas this production is going across various timelines and different periods of history, including some quite recent. Celebrated dramatist Chris Bush and Number 1 hit songwriter Miranda Cooper (Girls Aloud, Kylie Minogue) adapt suffragette descendent Kate Pankhurst’s award-winning picture book with music by Miranda Cooper and Jennifer Decilveo and direction by Amy Hodge.

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World review

That all-female team includes Chris Bush – who adapted the words – with music by Miranda Cooper – who has written for Girls Aloud and the Sugababes – and direction from Olivier-nominated Amy Hodge, who has worked at the National Theatre, the Young Vic and the Royal Exchange. I especially enjoyed the inclusion of Manchester’s own Emmeline Pankhurst – who Kate Pankhurst discovered she is related to whilst writing the book. Kirstie Skivington spoke with a broad Mancunian accent for the role, which was a nice touch. If you have a Blue Badge you can park anywhere in Northgate Car Park free of charge. There are 9 non-reservable spaces close to the Theatre entrance. Visit Chichester District Council for other available car parks. Bursting full of colourful illustrations and fascinating facts, Fantastically Great Women Who Saved the Planet is an inspiring introduction to just a few of the incredible women who show that all actions, big and small, can be powerful in the fight against climate breakdown. As we're so conveniently located, the car park can get very busy with city centre shoppers as well as our audiences. Parking for disabled patrons Celebrated - and often forgotten - women from history are brought to life on stage, from Rosa Parks to Sacagawea, Amelia Earhart to Marie Curie, Mary Seacole to Frida Kahlo and Jane Austen, and Pankhurst's own relative Emmeline. Inquisitive heroine Jade breaks away from her class trip to the local museum to take a peek at the Gallery of Greatness. Audiences can join Jade in meeting these incredible and inspiring women from the past: from explorers and scientists to artists and secret agents, hear the stories of some of history's independent icons who really did change the world. Books like that and conversations like that didn’t exist when I was at school. I didn’t learn anything about what women did at school,” says Pankhurst. “Conversations I have with children are more direct and informed now.” It’s loads of pressure to say you can change the world too, but if they leave the theatre feeling empowered to do something more with their talents, that’s a win,” Pankhurst says.
