As we tried to narrow this list down, a popular refrain among editors was: "Don’t forget this, don’t forget that, and what about this?

Avery continues her solitary life and profession, having gained even greater notoriety now, not only for her unconventional methods and having lost her license but also for being an ex-therapist who shot a client. Marissa and Matthew’s attempts to navigate Marissa’s marital infidelity are complicated by various outside players.Avery pries, and discovers her client is being forced to hide certain dangerous side effects of certain drugs, and Avery can’t let that stand. When she witnesses a small child tumbling from a ferry into Lake Champlain, Troy Chance dives in without thinking. She mentioned something along the lines of that relationships should not be defined by exclusivity but uniqueness or quality. While Marissa's confession may mean the end of her marriage, Avery senses more going on between these two than just infidelity.

Do you think that anyone in this novel could (or should) have been able to see more clearly the consequences of their actions? This is my favorite kind of thriller: a guessing game filled with characters you care about and twists you don’t see coming. Narrator Marin Ireland expertly embodies Avery, a well-known therapist recently suspended for her unconventional methods, while Karissa Vacker’s layered portrayal of Marissa kept me guessing. In fact, let me show you some examples so you can see (my opinion) the difference between beautiful writing and basic writing.I think if Tina’s murder had been better incorporated and we were left deciding if Skip did it or Matt, the book could have been WAY more suspenseful.
