Description

Wandering across the Paradis and Chai des Millésimes, you will discover the singularities of the Hine House, sole official cognac supplier to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II.

If you want to be really fancy, get a snifter so you can smell and taste the sweet brandy aromas in their full flavour. Founded by Jay-z and master cellar master Michel Casavecchia, it’s produced at Château du Cognac, one of the oldest cognac houses in the country. Hine's philosophy of creating the highest quality Cognacs respects the Maison’s heritage and terroir and they have been the sole official supplier of Cognac to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II since 1962.It’s the most delicate of the Hine cognacs with fruity citrussy aromas on the nose, attractive apple hints on the palate and a long mellow taste in the mouth. In 1962 we were granted the Royal Warrant by Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, making Hine the official supplier of cognac to the British monarchy.

A great starting point with this brand is its Jean-Luc Pasquet L’Organic 10 made with a blend of organic Eaux de vies matured between 10 and 12 years. It’s the kind of cognac that will make you realize there is more to the spirit than simply the big names. A living testament to the art of blending, Pierre Ferrand marries various vintages to harmonious effect. Boasting a perfect balance of aroma and taste, it's great if you've tried lots of different brandies and are looking for a fuller-tasting brandy experience. After a couple of months spent imprisoned in the Château de Jarnac – to ascertain whether he was an English spy – he was released to go about his business, make the fortunate marriage alliance with Françoise-Elisabeth (daughter of the owner of Delamain) and go on to give his name to the brand. There are some orchards thrown into the overall picture, sweet leather, and a final glimpse of the exceptional base wine character that is so typical for the house of Hine. The wide-eyed Thomas Hine was detained at the Château de Jarnac for several months, coincidentally alongside another man with a keen interest in cognac, Mr. Much more than just the drink of choice of ‘The Ladies Man’, Courvoisier is the youngest of the ‘big four’ houses.

This traditional cognac house is comprised of blends using only Eaux de vie from Ugni Blanc grapes all of which are grown on the family estate. Such was his reputation in the business, when his father-in-law died, Thomas was chosen as his successor, as opposed to one of the Delamain sons. Its VSOP is beloved for its notes of candied orange peels, honey, tropical fruits, dried cherries, and sweet caramel.
