Fabolous sound: Lots of detail, precise imaging, strong but tight bass, delicate mids and clear highs The bass is the typical dynamic kind of bass. Powerful and with good impact. The bass presence is probably boosted a little bit, as Sennheiser also states, but it never becomes too much. The IE 600 driver most of the time is perfectly in control and the bass never becomes too much. It’s the typical bass which most of the DD driven and more neutrally tuned IEMs in this price range have. If you’re looking for a big bass presence, you better look at the IE 300 as the IE 600 will not give you that.

cable is not really flexible, and my main problem is the propietary mmcx, the pin is similar to other mmcx, yet it has a small mount that makes other mmcx cannot be easily connected to the pin, and i hate the earguide (every time i wear them i need a small time to adjust it) We’ve of course featured and reviewed many Sennheiser products here on HFN. My personal favorite Sennheiser headphones are the HD 800 S, the HD 650 (on tubes) and the HD 660S. My most used Sennheiser IEMs are the IE 900. The bass is quite powerful. The guitar has a warm glow to it. You can hear all the little details in the percussion, but it’s never too bright sounding. The soundstage is not extremely big, but it doesn’t feel closed in, just intimate. The essence of my listening impressions with the ADI-2 DAC FS is that the IE600 has plenty of bass presence with good quality. The bass is sometimes a bit bloomy but never bloated. The mid-range is warm and inviting, yet full of detail and texture. The treble is never too bright, but it is crisp and clear. I am usually quite sensitive to bright headphones, but the IE600 doesn’t trigger fatigue for me. A fast transient response goes a long way, and the IE 600 features that well with its midrange extension. The IE 900 also has a clean and detailed timbre, but in terms of drive it is not as impactful as the lows and takes on a more natural response. Instrumental and vocal clarity are incredible on both IEMs, but in terms of tonal richness, the IE 600 has a bit of an advantage over the 900. Some might actually prefer the 900’s more subdued performance in its midrange, as I think less aggression here balances the frequency response in a way that makes a more specific sound profile emerge. One that might be more dynamic that the constant force of the mids on the IE 600. Highs It isn’t easy to tell which one I prefer. They are similarly tuned, and they have similar detail levels. And, as always, need to adjust the volume level each time I switch. If I had to say anything I would maybe find IE600 a tad cleaner, but not much.

Soundwise, the S12 has a wider soundstage. The bass is quite good and punchy but quantity-wise it is less than the IE600. The S12 Pro also is generally brighter sounding, with a more energetic treble. It can feel a bit dry. The IE600 has significantly more refinement in the treble region, and except for the bigger soundstage, I prefer the IE600 overall. The S12 is great for the money, and they fit nicely in my ear when I find the right tips (for me it was Comply foams). They are very light and quite compact but not as small as the IE600. In the following I will compare the IE600 to a range of IEMs in various price classes. All comparisons were made using the Monolith THX AAA 887 amplifier and the RME ADI-2 DAC FS as a DAC.The included cable is made of a rubber-like material. I like that it has some friction. It is thin and lightweight. The MMCX cable connectors are protected with a circular flange that will be in the way if you use most 3rd party cables so be aware of this if you want to try other cables. INITIAL LISTENING IMPRESSIONS The first difference with balanced is that you in single ended configuration get a more intimate presentation, with less space between the notes and an overall less airy presentation. This is especially noticeable in the mid section. The midrange, though, is the star of this recording – very few singers push their voice as far forward in the mix as Stevie Wonder, but then very few singers have the purity and character of tone to get away with it. The IE600 are alive to the tiny contributions made by inhalation and palate noise, and consequently build a vocal performance that’s thrilling in its immediacy.

The IE600 is extremely small, comfortable and built to last a lifetime. It has strong but tight bass, crisp highs and mellow mids. It needs power to really shine, but once you get a proper source, it’ll give you lots of musical pleasure. I did not really know what to expect connecting the IE600 to the WA22 amplifier, but it was surprisingly spectacular. In some magical way, the WA22 made the IE600 perfect. The big tube amplifier manages to make the IE600 more rounded and more detailed at the same time. The sound stage becomes larger. The bass is less dominant, and the treble becomes more liquid. DESKTOP AMPSAnd then there’s the real party piece of recent Sennheiser designs. ‘Fluency’ is a subjective term; it can’t be measured and even the definition is a slightly shaky one. Even with this allowance made, I would be amazed if you didn’t listen to the IE 600 piledriver its way through Show Me How To Love by Audioslave and not be absolutely grabbed by just how together it is. The durable idea that crossovers are inaudible until the moment you take them out of the equation feels very applicable here because there’s so little between you and what you’ve chosen to listen to. Sennheiser has introduced three new IEMs in the last two years, all of which sport the same basic aesthetic. But how do they compare soundwise? violin, percussion, cymbals sounds really lively, impactful with a lot of bite that is just enough to make them exciting without sounding harsh, trying lindsey sterling - dance of sugarplum fairy has never sound so good, also la primavera from vivaldi's 4 spring
