The start is certainly engaging. A monk is initiated into a secret that motivates him to tell the world in the only way he has open to him - a very public suicide. A flash of supernatural effects, along with the ambiance of the ancient Citadel set the stage. I was intrigued!

While fiction, this novel is written around real events of the Second World War, and was inspired by the massacre at Baudrigues on August 19, 1944 and the women that died there. This book is the journey of a young doctor fresh out of college, eager to help everyone with his knowledge and skills who ends up lost in the charm of money and fame and losses all interest in the morals and values he once fought for. This is a story of a woman who fell in love with an honest hardworking doctor who went to great lengths to save lives, only to find him changing for the worse into someone whom they both despised. The story of her struggles to make him realise his mistakes. This is a book about medical ethics and what it means to be a doctor. It is a great read and all aspiring medical students must definitely read this stunning book.

When she arrives she and the actions of her brother awakens a religious force that will change the religious face of this world, well the Christian one.

Spies traffic in lies and murder and deception,” Joe Russo added. “[The cast] has to encapsulate characters who traffic in those things, but also characters who have zero connection to that world and connections to their current lives. It’s a difficult idea for actors to play.” The story itself is utterly cliche ridden. The lovers look into one another's eyes. their hearts burn with passion, there is much gazing at the stars, there is a Jewish lover, who is, of course taken and so and so on. In short, there is no originality or fervor in the writing. It is one trite cliche after another. In fact, as I was reading it, I kept imagining I was marking my Year 11 short stories and wanted to underline bits and write CLICHE in large red letters in the margin. If I had found several spelling mistakes and multiple erroneous attempts at a semi-colon I would not have been surprised. An explosive apocalyptic conspiracy thriller from a major new British talent that will set the world alight… Een prachtig verhaal wat geschiedenis, bon homme, een codex, een oorlog, en liefdesverhaal met elkaar verweven. I am definitely in love with this book and its characters ever since I read it many years ago when I was just 15. And I will never stop loving it. Hope this review inspires readers to try this amazing book. Kathryn Mann, head of the charity Ortus, is among the current generation of members of an ancient, secret tribe, determined to see the world changed through secret knowledge, if only they can free it. What is their goal, and will they survive to see it through?
