Description

Hine’s philosophy is to create the highest quality Cognacs, respecting the Maison’s heritage and terroir focussing on fruity and floral characteristics. It's best enjoyed neat but works equally well in classic cocktails perfect to toast a special occasion. On the palate it has a great backbone of natural almond character with hints of orange rind and a long developing nutty finish. This is a very natural product and is probably the only Amaretto available in the UK actually made with almonds. Antique XO is a complex Cognac, blended from more than forty eaux-de-vie produced exclusively from Grande Champagne grapes. A terrific Cognac from Hine, Rare is classed as Fine Champagne, meaning that the eaux-de-vie used are all from the Grande or Petite Champagne areas, with at least 50% from Grande Champagne. The House of Hine has two birth dates: 1763, when the distillery was founded on the right bank of the river Charente, and 1817, when Thomas Hine gave his name to this House.

Homage XO is a blend of more than twenty eaux-de-vie, mostly aged in Hine’s cellars in Jarnac, but including four Early Landed single vintages: 1983, 1985, 1986 and 1987.Here, the aim is not to mask the flavours with dominant woody tones, but to enhance them as part of a delicate exchange between the eau-de-vie and oak staves. Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. The house is one of the few to regularly release vintage Cognacs, aged in the cellar until they are ready for bottling. It reinterprets the fruity flavours characteristic of white wines produced from Charente vines, particularly from the Grande and Petite Champagne varieties. The identity of Hine comes from the village of Bonneuil, where 70 hectars of Ugni Blanc grapes provide the ingredients for the blending process.
