She has played Rita in the ITV soap for more than 50 years after an initial one-off appearance as the exotic dancer, Rita Littlewood, in 1964 before returning as a full-time cast member eight years later. Also during the special programme, Barbara opens up about her retirement plans. Reflecting on her incredible career, Barbara pondered over the prospect of saying goodbye to it all and retiring. "Unbelievable really isn’t it? How the years have gone," she says.
