I believe we are living in extraordinary times. In fact, I just celebrated another birthday and it was awesome. I enjoyed being surrounded by friends and family. Most importantly, I was overwhelmed at the love, support and touching words that were shared with me on my special day. I’m grateful to know that my life is making a difference. This was a milestone year for me and I set very clear intentions for what I want the next half of my life to look like. I believe that if you do not design your life that you will live a life of defeat and frustration. The end of summer is fastly approaching and I hope that you are making the most of what you have left. It’s time to stop living life by default and start living life by design! Make 2022 Your Greatest Year: A Blueprint for Thriving in 2022

Jamelle Bouie". The Nation. March 30, 2011. Archived from the original on December 20, 2015 . Retrieved January 18, 2016.Well, for many of us here in the United States we just celebrated Thanksgiving. If you are anything like me, you are still recovering from the incredible feast of yesterday. It is truly one of my favorite times of the year. While many people are excited about the turkey, dressing, and all the trimmings, Thanksgiving is about much more than that for me. It is an opportunity to reflect, assess my life, and offer gratitude for my many blessings. I am not saying that you should not look forward to a big dinner and seeing all your loved ones. However, I am saying that we must embrace gratitude as a way of life and a state of being. I hope this piece will resonate with you and remind you of the power of gratitude. Bouie previously lived and worked in Washington, D.C., and as of 2021 [update], he is based in Charlottesville, Virginia. [7] Career [ edit ]

Never limit thanksgiving to a day. While we carve out the last Thursday in November as Thanksgiving in the United States, I do not want you to think that Thanksgiving is simply limited to a day on a calendar. I discovered decades ago that Thanksgiving is a state of consciousness and a daily choice that must make in our lives. Honestly, if you are not intentional, we live in a world that will program you to be cynical and pessimistic. Cultivating gratitude is something that you have to intentionally do every single day of your life. When you have the opportunity to complain, I want you to make the choice to be grateful and to consider all the great blessings in your life. Thanksgiving is not about a day. Thanksgiving is about cultivating an attitude of gratitude. You have to stop ignoring the desire within you for a greater life. As we crossed over into 2023, I found myself excited but dissatisfied with some things in my life. First of all, I will say that I have been blessed more than I could ever imagine. I have been so fortunate to build a business and brand that has impacted people all over the world. However, I knew that it was time for the next level but I was apprehensive about it. I tried to ignore the desire but it only produced more dissatisfaction. Therefore, I had to make the decision to listen to the desire and to follow it. If you want this year to be different for you, then you are going to have to stop ignoring the desire for a greater life. Desire is a divine whisper alerting you to the life that is possible for you. Take some time to silence the noise, listen to your spirit and dare to pursue incredible possibilities and opportunities for your life. Desire ignored will ultimately result in destiny forfeited. Live a life that keeps giving. One of the proudest moments for me on my birthday was to read the overwhelming remarks that were made about me. I am not so much looking for kind words. I’m looking for honest and heartfelt words because that is what helps me grow as a person. As I received calls, texts, social media messages and cards, I was overcome with emotion. People told stories of how my life and work have impacted them in a big way. It was humbling to me and a reminder that my life is not my own. I always want to live a life that keeps giving. I understand that my life is a seed. My decision to mature determines the multiplicity of that seed in the world. Ultimately, I hope that more than my words, accolades or talents, I hope that I will be remembered for leaving a mark on the world that will never be erased. When you live a life that keeps giving you know you are living your greatest life. You have to dare to be extraordinary. I would be lying to you if I told you that my life was easy. It would be dishonest to tell you that you will not face pressure, opposition and even moments where you will want to quit. However, what I can tell you is that you were designed to live an extraordinary life. In the midst of challenges something within me would not allow me to settle or to become complacent. I knew that I was destined to do more and be more. In my darkest moments I was reminded that I was born to live an extraordinary life. How do you get to an extraordinary life? You will never get there taking the road of least resistance. You will never get there doing what is comfortable or convenient. The only way to get to an extraordinary life is to be pushed to your limits, to defy the odds, to surmount the insurmountable. The only way you get to an extraordinary life is by choosing not to do what is easy. The way you get to an extraordinary life is by doing difficult things. In other words, it is developing the disciplines that distinguish you from everybody else in the world. So when you see me on a platform speaking or you read my books know that my decision to do the difficult things is what has empowered me to live a world-class life.

Pain can produce great rewards in your life. While I am sure that some of you are a bit bewildered by this statement, I want you to understand that pain is a powerful tool. In fact, pain has been a powerful gift in my life. Pain has helped me identify when a season was over, a relationship was ending, and even alerted me when it was time to upgrade my life to the next level. Your perspective on pain wants to keep you in a prison. Conversely, the right perspective on pain will empower you to progress and reach your greatest potential. I've learned to see pain as simply resistance training in my life. You have to understand that muscles cannot be built without resistance. Resistance is painful but necessary to build muscles and produce results. Resistance is the tool that ushers you into the next realm in your life. The reward of pain is not only progress but power. In other words, what you are avoiding is the very thing that will serve as the catalyst for the advancement of your life. Pain is simply developing the disciplines in you that will empower you to thrive at the next dimension. Without resistance, you will always live a restricted life. Well, it is hard to believe that February is coming to an end and we are about to enter the third month of 2020. I was reading a great piece by a friend of mine last night and it really resonated with me. In fact, it resonated in such a profound way that I am still meditating on that thought this morning. I talk with so many people that want to make progress in their lives. However, not many people are willing to pay the price necessary to see progress in their lives. One thing I know from experience is that progress is painful. While we enjoy the rewards of progress, not enough people are acquainted with the reality of the pain that accompanies great progress in life. I want to share some insights with you on how to endure the pain of progress to empower you to prosper and thrive in 2020 and beyond. Baragona, Justin (November 15, 2016).
