If you have a larger area to treat you can use multiple Nemaslug packs it is best to apply each pack of Nemaslug individually. We supply packs of microscopic beneficial nematodes (eelworms) which are watered into pots or open ground. They also say that the product is excellent for their greenhouse and that they are flowering for the third time. It also works incredibly well in damp and wet conditions, which is when slugs thrive and do the most damage. Nematodes are particularly effective in damp, wet weather unlike pellets which can become less effective when wet.

Nemaslug is less effective on cloggy clay soil, which has not been worked and/or has become waterlogged. Start your control regime early and you will be able to target the young slugs growing under the ground feeding on humus. Its beneficial to water it in well after application to ensure you wash all of the nematodes into the soil as they will soon die if they are on the foilage.If you have crops like strawberries and tomatoes growing, slugs will chew round holes in the fruit as well as the leaves. These green wonders shoot up, not out, saving space while promising a harvest that could make any green thumb boast. Thanks for the message and there as some species of nematodes that in lab conditions may affect bees (there are hundreds of species of nematodes) but the ones used in Nemaslug have not been shown to have any effect and are safe for bees.

It's probably best to apply in spring and autumn to coincide with times when they eat your plants and reproduce. Within a few days of the product being used I have noticed signs that slugs activity is slowing down.There is a manufacuturing issue with BASF nematodes so these are not available until end of Feb 2024. The nematodes come complete with instructions and can be applied using a watering can or nematode applicator. Unlike Nemaslug®, many slug pellets do NOT work well during wet weather – exactly when you need protection against slugs. Most slugs and certainly juvenile slugs are active below the surface, Nemaslug is very effective at stopping a slug problem from developing.
