Description

The setup uses a couple of sawhorses, some long screws, and a few pieces of plywood to make a spinner for supporting a door while it is painted.

The Hinge Stand Kit is a reusable painting tool used to hold interior doors upright and rigid in preparation for spray painting.

Customer reviews

Painting a door with a roller can seem like an intimidating task, but it doesn’t have to be! The key to achieving a smooth, even coat is all in the preparation. Before beginning, make sure all surfaces are properly sanded and wiped down using a clean cloth and then allow them to dry thoroughly. The PSDR Series is an integrated system that uses cabinet door hangers for painting. It's designed to paint and dry cabinet doors in a vertical orientation with the least amount of effort and space. Cabinet door hangers are used for spraying all sides in one step. A heavy coat of paint covers better and sometimes levels out better, but runs are more likely and brush marks are deeper. Pros often paint doors in place without removing it from its hinges. But from prep to painting, you’ll get better results if you remove the door. Working in your garage, shop or basement allows you to control lighting and drying conditions better. Laying the door flat will also minimize runs in the paint job. This next step will require 2 people. One person will stand up the first door on top of the parallel 2×4 runners. Set it up at a slight angle. The second person, on the ladder, will stand up a second door about 8 ft away from the first door. Person number 1 will hand up the end of a 1×2, to person number 2. Each end will lay across the top of both doors. While on the ladder, have that person screw down the 1×2, to the top of the door. Then repeat with the other door. The doors should hold themselves up on their own. Now you are ready to put up more doors in between the two. We set them up at angles, and alternated the angle for every door, like an accordion. Leave 4 to 6 inches between the close end of each door, and about 30 inches between the wide end of each door. Attach the 1X2 above each door as you stand them up, and before moving on to the next door.

Rollers lay on paint much faster than a brush, giving you a few more precious minutes to work the paint before it begins to stiffen. We needed a tool that could help us to paint all those doors and trim in a small space and there was nothing on the market to facilitate. Once we experienced how well it worked out for us, we shared it with others. Before long an ever growing demand ensued. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. The most common painting tip is always to apply two coats of paint to any surface if you want to ensure even coverage and prevent easy peeling and marking. We always begin by painting the frame and door casing and leaving it to dry completely before painting the door or reattaching the painted door to its hinges and closing it,’ says Paige NeJame, professional painter and owner of CertaPro Painters of South Shore and Boston. ‘Trims are often a little more fiddly to paint, so it makes sense to get this out of the way first so you don't accidentally get paint on the freshly painted door.’ 5. Apply at least two coats of paint Rollers will help you cover the majority of the surface with paint while avoiding brush and drip marks, while brushes can help you get full paint coverage in detailed areas or around glass panels,’ he explains. You are ready to set up your doors for painting. Even if you decide to roll or brush paint the doors, this setup is still a good idea because it will hold your doors upright while you paint and allow the door to dry. Painting doors before you paint walls can make a lot of sense, no matter if you are taking them off the hinges or leaving them in situ. While the paint dries, you can begin work on the trims and walls. When painting a door on its hinges, then painting the trim then door first and allowing it to dry entirely will provide you with an easy surface to tape up and cover when painting the walls. Can you gloss a door with a roller?
