A well-kept car looks as good inside as it does outside. We have a huge range of specialist car paints and car paint removers that can be used to refresh your car’s bumpers, brake callipers, engine and wheels appearance. Also, covers redirect dust from brake pads to the rear of the automobile so that just a little portion flies on the outside surfaces. 7. Can I spray paint my brake calipers? Although lots of people paint with their calipers on, there is an increased risk of staining other areas that you don’t wish to show colors. It also offers glossy and wear-resistant color varieties. Hence, it gives buyers a flurry of options to choose from. Sounds good? Right! Most of the colors available for caliper paint will appear as they look on the cap or label. However, you may want to try out the color on a scrap piece of metal. To get the most out of this method, tape off three sections of a scrap metal piece and spray one, then two, and then three coats. I’m sure you don’t want to wait several hours for your paints to dry, as this can get really frustrating. Although aerosol cans and brush on caliper paints require some minutes between coats to form a super solid layer, the best VHT caliper paints dry within 60 – 120 minutes. These paints have incredible chemical resistance and shield brake calipers from grime and road salt.

When using aerosolized caliper paint, make sure to work in a well-ventilated area. Even dipping cans and brush-on kits can be harmful if inhaled for too long. You should also use gloves as you paint to avoid transferring any pigment and harmful chemicals on to your skin. Painting brake calipers is a delicate process that is not without counter-indications. Based on our experience, we have identified 5 reasons why we suggest this not be done. Of course, everyone is free to form their own opinion and do what they feel is best on their vehicle. It sprays on excellently well and has nice coverage. Plus, all colors run a darker shade, although this product doesn’t have too many color options. In addition, VHT SP736 Gold Brake Caliper Paint has this peculiar self-leveling trait that makes it leave a smooth finishing touch with every coat. The overall decision comes down to whichever one you can control better. You should go for a method that suits you best and ensures you mask the surrounding areas well to get a perfect job. Drying Time The best time to paint your calipers is when you’re replacing the brakes; that is, if you’re a DIYer or garage mechanic and have the ability. You can easily remove the calipers when you replace the pads and rotors. As long as you can keep your car off the road for a day, the whole process shouldn’t take too long. Spray painting is efficient and gives a better paint distribution, although you are more likely to spray on prohibited surrounding parts.
