It is estimated that every 100 million years, Earth is hit by an asteroid about 10–15km in diameter, comparable in size to the one that triggered the K–Pg extinction which killed non-avian dinosaurs 66 million years ago. This pastor predicted the end would occur in his book The End: Why Jesus Could Return by A.D. 2000.

These words may suggest some kind of revolt against the wealthy who have traditionally been insulated from the economic turmoil affecting the rest of society. Another quatrain presents an equally dire vision of discord and violence: Based on a misunderstanding of a talk given by astronomer Jérôme Lalande Parisians were convinced that a comet would destroy the world on this date. Brace yourselves for the coming of the (third) Antichrist, a third world war, a massively destructive volcano and an extinction-level catastrophe. That said, Nostradamus does refer to someone he calls the ‘King of the Isles’, who has had a controversial divorce and who is ‘driven out by force’. What’s more, he is replaced by ‘one who will have no mark of a king’.See also: Timeline of the far future, Global catastrophic risk, and Ultimate fate of the universe Estimated timeframe (years)

Blomfield, Adrian (May 16, 2008). "Russian doomsday cult emerge from underground cave". The Daily Telegraph. Archived from the original on July 7, 2013.Almost half a millennium after his death, Nostradamus is still history’s most famous astrologer and seer. His number one status is also particularly remarkable when you consider just how strange and cryptic his writings are. On December 25, 1951, Bischoff stated the Second Coming would occur before he died. He died on July 6, 1960. The beauty of Nostradamus is you can read whatever you wish into what he wrote. What some may consider his charlatanry is, viewed from another angle, his genius, says Everett F Blieler, author, under the pseudonym Liberte E LeVert, of Prophecies and Enigmas of Nostradamus: “Circumlocution and evasion of directness play a large part. He usually waffled in his astrological datings, since conjunctions are repeated. He invoked obscure Latin words to create possibilities of double meanings; he omitted prepositions, articles, reflexives and connectives, and favoured the infinitive as a timeless, personless form that can be read many ways.” Pope Innocent III (died 1216) predicted that the world would end 666 years after the rise of Islam in 618.
