Sally does now realise while writing this book about her life there was a lot of privilege in her upbringing and education. Arnold lived and worked in a man’s world, but “ I liked it“, he admits, “ and actually, one thing i miss is those big hugs. On tour we were a very close family». The music industry fascinates me and I am beyond excited to acquire this for our branch and share my thoughts. I can’t wait to read Sally’s behind the scenes stories touring with some of the most popular acts of her time. Many more thoughts and insight to follow.

Cyberpope from Richmond, Canada"Big fat Fanny" in British slang is not bottom -- it's an afectionate term for the vagina as a sexual(not simply anatomical) object. . . Kent Lyle from Palo Alto, CaIn the actual album playlist, "Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Bicycle Race" are not next to each other. They are separated by "Jealousy". The fact it was a man’s world she was living and working in (and some under the influence more than others) was part of the ride. “I loved it,” she says. “In fact, one thing I miss is the big bear hugs. We were such a close-knit family on tour.” I probably owe more than I realised then to my grandfather [Charles Arnold]. He was a successful entrepreneur, owner of MK Electric and the sixth richest businessman in the UK at the time, who admitted he never really knew what he was doing, so he just did what he thought was common sense. And that’s what I did. I remember Roger Daltrey’s wife, Heather, saying to me once: ‘Nobody’s ever given the wives an itinerary before.’ But to me, it was common sense – the wives needed to know where their husbands were!Barry from Sauquoit, NyOn November 16th 1978, Queen appeared in concert* at Madison Square Garden in New York City... Eric from St Paul Mn UsaLike another song about big butts (recorded in the 90s by Sir Mix-a-lot); this song still gets a LOT of airplay and requests at wedding receptions, parties, and bars. ironically, skinny girls like both songs too. Ched - from La Union, Philippinesi love freddie's and paul rodger's versions of this song... cheers!

As a young adult, her descriptions of London in the 60s are of course ‘swinging’ and provide her with an introduction to the music industry. The book describes how she became the Jagger’s nanny, moving on to managing UK and US bands and their tours. Later chapters describe her gradual withdrawal from the mainstream music industry as she applies her skills to various charity organisation and events. Sally went to a boarding school that was run by the parents to Christopher Booker the journalists and co founder of Private Eye. Exceeding the boundaries was never a problem, except once” during the Stones’ European tour in 1976. He was a stupid boy, a roadie, who could have invited me for a drink or a meal, and instead threw himself into an elevator». A plane tragedy changed her life I marveled at how much she moved around, renting or selling apartments and cottages as her work situations evolved. She also worked for various charity entities setting up events, eventually starting her own event planning company. She even sat side by side with Princess Diana for some charity events, with some down to earth conversations to share, as well as photos of them together. Sally also collaborated with iconic Hollywood actor Paul Newman to utilize proceeds from his "Newman's Own" brand to funnel into UK charities. Ken from Yorkton, CanadaI have had it known that Brian wrote this song in "Tribute" of all of the groupies that would do "anything" to meet them.

Bridget from CoDon't know why, but once toward the end of history class our teacher was talking, and with a part of a reaction video where one girl commented on this song in mind, I commented, "Queen's Jazz album!" He agreed. Still don't know why I said that. Kevin from Danbury, CtAnother immature comment, Freddie never wanted to have GUYS riding on bikes. If anything the nakded women were his idea. She opens up about the 3 am phone calls she received and the stoned 'episodes' she encountered while on tour. However, it wasn't all chaos and craziness. Arnold also shares the luxurious lifestyle that came with the job. I also wonder about the blasé descriptions of drug use and abuse, given the damage the author has observed over the years with so many people close to her. I’m sure it was all jolly good fun at the time, but as the damage to users and their families accumulates, I would have thought a more nuanced description to drug abuse might have been applied to the behaviour described. The author encounters many famous people in her career, mostly from the music world but also in other areas, including arts, politics and business. These anecdotes are somewhat interesting, but not particularly revealing or remarkable. Most of the musicians reputations are not enhanced by the authors description of events, attitudes and behaviour. Among the many mentioned, a couple do seem to be genuinely decent human beings. Peter Gabriel and Charlie Watts for example; these gentlemen are already well regarded due to their behaviours and activities over many years.
