Description

The game is the twelfth main series installment in the franchise, and it features the twenty-two circuits, twenty drivers and ten teams proposed in the provisional 2020 Formula 1 World Championship. When you become comfortable with gameplay, you can start turning some assists off slowly to try out new aspects of the game. Snad'Zo's F1 2020 Realistic Performance mod changes the performance of a few cars, resulting in a different overall game balance.

The heavy reliance on recycled vignettes and the same old faces we’ve been seeing for virtually an entire generation admittedly means F1 2020 doesn’t necessarily look as fresh as it feels but, between My Team and splitscreen, this is the most fun I’ve had with the F1 series for years. During the race, you can see the car’s fuel consumption and change if you want the car to have a low, standard or rich fuel consumption. That means you still need to learn the layout of the tracks and make sure you take the corners properly without oversteering or understeering. We had hoped to have a more fleshed out narrative this year, but instead it’s been entirely removed. You could be driving at 300km/h but it will be of no use if you can’t brake in time to pass the first corner. Perhaps inspired by real life events, this year you can also toggle off many of the tracks and run a stripped back championship if you wish to maintain realism. Be sure to follow these tips and go check out the next part in the series, The HUD and Terminology Guide. Highlights from the game’s track set include the “Track de Monaco” for the Monaco Grand Prix and the Suzuka track in Japan.

At these moments, try not to place your vehicle straight in front of the driver behind, especially on straights. The Aston Martin Racing mod adds the team with the same name as a playable option in F1 2020's My Team game mode.

In the new My Team section, you have a whole separate Career-style mode in which you make up the eleventh team on the grid. It perhaps feels a little bit too F1 Manager to us, preferring the more focused driver Career mode in the longer term, but this is clearly a welcome addition and your mileage may vary.

With the best F1 2020 mods now covered, drop by our article detailing how getting extra rewards for your driver and cars through the Podium Pass works. All of the official 22 tracks are present in F1 2020, including the revived Dutch grand prix at Circuit Zandvoort, with its long, intense, high-speed right hand turns which make for an exhilarating drive, and the brand new Hanoi Street Circuit in Vietnam, which is like a greatest hits of many race favourites. Rivalries that are developed on the track are great, but contextually, wouldn’t it be cool if you could see these relationships spill over in the trailers after the race?

In career mode players now have the choice to do a half, or a full Formula 2 season or only do three races as in F1 2019, known as the F2 Feeder Series, although there is no longer a rivalry story-line and no fictional drivers other than that created by the player. It's quite a comprehensive system, with drivers holding different skill levels in various field such as Pace, Experience, Race Craft, and Awareness, with higher salaries demanded by higher rated drivers. F1 2020 is the latest entry in Codemasters' annual racing game series, letting players create their very own driver and getting a taste of what the sport feels like in its 10-year campaign. Both of these tracks were scratched off this year’s calendar due to COVID-19, but they’re both included here as though we’re in an alternate timeline.
