Eluded by sleep, they seek comfort in death and destruction. Underneath their dangerous side, both Tommy and Michael have a soft heart and care deeply about their loved ones. Polly tells Tommy: “You have your mother’s common sense but your father’s devilment. I see them fighting. Let your mother win.” From gifting a house to Aunt Pol to letting Linda's demands be fulfilled, family comes first for Tommy and it is no different for Michael who listens to his father's words: "A man who doesn't spend time with his family can never be a real man." The sign for W. Northridge and Son Builders seen in the exterior of the Shelby Co. office is a tribute to the production designer’s father, a builder by trade. Image credit: Nicole Northridge

On the floor of Alfie Solomon’s Margate apartment is a tiled mosaic of the word “Lethe”, the river of oblivion in Hades, the underworld in Greek mythology. It was requested by director Anthony Byrne to symbolise Alfie’s otherworldly status as a character who sort of returned from the dead (after being shot by Tommy at the end of series four). Also incorporated into the stained glass design on the Tavern windows is a rising sun bursting with rays. “One, it’s the 1920s, we’re into the deco period,” says Northridge, “but it’s also the rising sun and rays of hope.” The budget designer eyewear brand behind Peaky Blinders' Tommy Shelby's iconic season six glasses has opened a gorgeous boutique in Manchester. IOLLA was founded in Scotland, but has now made its way to the UK's most fashionable city (not that we're biased or anything). A terrifying union … Sam Claflin and Amber Anderson as Oswald Mosley and Diana Mitford. Photograph: Robert Viglasky/BBC/Caryn Mandabach Productions Ltd.The world of Tommy Shelby’s wardrobe is something we could explore for hours. His sophisticated look matched with his wit and charm makes him look powerful and handsome. Setting the bar high, I hope this post has given you some helpful tips so even you could dress like a modern day Peaky Blinder. The positioning of the Shelby men’s portraits in the company boardroom is significant as a visual demonstration of Tommy’s power over, and in series five, distance from, Arthur and Michael.

While mirrors were used in connection with Oswald Mosley’s character to reflect his extreme narcissism, for Tommy Shelby they meant something else. In the Bingley Hall dressing room, Tommy was reflected on both sides, creating a hall of mirrors effect says Northridge. “It’s so he can’t escape his own mind,” explains Northridge. “It’s just confusion and chaos, which is why we wanted that layering of reflections going on for infinity. He’s finally met the man he can’t defeat – or understand – and it’s himself.” Peaky series five Easter Eggs and TriviaThe white striped shirt that Tommy Shelby features in multiple times throughout the show has become a staple piece in many men’s wardrobes, this season especially. The shirt has been an iconic piece in men and women’s fashion throughout the ages and is highly unlikely to never go out of style. Effortlessly paired with almost any trousers, this look becomes an individual and adapted outfit altered to your preference. The striped shirt may be versatile but require immaculate pairing up to create your look. Here are a few examples of how Thomas Shelby wore this style in the show. Everyone’s a whore, Grace. We just sell different parts of ourselves," Tommy has an acumen for the business like no other. So does Michael. War veterans, both fought for their country like valiant comrade-in-arms. Their selfless service to the nation opened a new path of acceptance in the eyes of law. For Michael, it was when the cops twitch before hitting him and for Tommy, it came across in season three when Winston Churchill strikes a direct deal with the Shelbys. The short answer is no. We've gone into a lot more depth to explain the Peaky Blinders season-five ending here, but essentially Cillian Murphy has already been confirmed to return by creator Steven Knight and he's the show's leading man, so would they really kill him off with another two seasons to go? After Grace’s death, Tommy took the sapphire to gypsy Madame Boswell, who told him that the sapphire was indeed cursed – exactly what he needed to hear to salve his own conscience (Boswell was rewarded for this knowledge with the expensive jewel, so may well have been prepared to tell Tommy it was made of cheese if that’s what he wanted to hear). When Grace appeared with the stone this series though, she said “It wasn’t the blue stone, Tommy, it was you,” as the sapphire turned to blood streaming from the gunshot wound in her chest. Happy or sad? In the script, Aberama Gold was supposed to crash through the roof of the Chinatown house in the series opener, but the location was a National Heritage property and they couldn’t make serious alterations. Instead, a lathe and plaster wall was built for Aberama to burst through – actor Aiden Gillen nailed it on the first take.

Once again, Tommy did his sales pitch. In exchange for access to Boston’s south side, he’d not only introduce Nelson to influential “like minds” but offer insider intel on Churchill’s anti-fascist strategies. If not, Tommy would sell his opium to the Jews. Political operator Nelson agreed to think about it. Just time for London-bound niece Gina (Anya Taylor-Joy) to get in his ear. Line of the week Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse. Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Kate Phillips, who played Linda, said: "Who knows? I can only hope so. I definitely felt like there's a lot of unfinished business there. They share a child together, there's definitely no chance Arthur would let Linda get away with Billy, so they're tied together, with the family connection, and obviously family is a big connection in Peaky Blinders. Stefan Hunter, Founder of IOLLA said: “The culmination of a huge amount of hard work and collaboration, it’s been a joy to see such an iconic character wear a pair of IOLLA frames. When we were approached in the summer of 2018, we couldn’t have imagined the journey we would go on with the production and it’s really incredible to have our homegrown business be part of Peaky Blinders history. We can’t wait to tune into the new series to see how things will end for the famous Tommy Shelby!”As we met Mosley for the first time this series, he was fine-tuning the podium lighting for his fascist rally. The British Union of Fascists leader was now joined at the hip with his very own Lady Macbeth: future wife Diana Mitford (Amber Anderson), styling herself as “Oswald’s most recent and last ever mistress”. We say "to death" as even though Arthur says Aberama is dead, Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy) managed to survive a bullet to the face, so perhaps we can hold out hope Aberama can shrug off 23 stab wounds. Though it seems unlikely.
