Then, we died on their swords. All of that changes the day the Veil shatters, unleashing the fae upon our world once again. The magic of faerie marks those of us they mean to take, but the Mist Guard protecting Nothrek will kill us all before they let the fae have us. There's no choice but to flee everything I've ever known, not if I want to live to see my twenty-first birthday as a free woman. The "Dance of the Seven Veils" is Salome's dance performed before Herod II. It is an elaboration on the biblical story of the execution of John the Baptist, which refers to Salome dancing before the king, but does not give the dance a name. Gavin Guile is missing, leaving Kip and his allies to face the White King's horde in the fourth novel of the NYT bestselling Lightbringer series by Brent Week's. I touched my fingertips to one of the scars in the center of his spine, feeling his body still at my touch. “Who did this to you?” I asked, my voice sounding softer and more broken than I’d ever heard it.” Caelum: “And yet you continue on anyway, my brave little star. You burn so bright I sometimes fear the Wild Hunt will sense you from miles away,”

THE SETUP AND initial chapters were so good! I felt really invested in this world and wanted to see Estrella break free from her unfortunate situation. And then things got even more interesting once the Veil shattered and she would up on the run... up until we meet Caelum. I don't think I've ever been less excited about a MMC. I still have my hopes up for the sequel because this book has the potential to turn out to be a favorite of mine. The two main characters, Estrella and Caelum, were easy to fall in love with. But she definitely hoped Caelum wasn’t telling the whole truth. And while some parts of this book were somewhat predictable, there was still a lot that happened that I didn’t expect at all.I did, letting them drift closed. Ringing filled my ears, drowning out my mother’s hoarse cries and the sound of Brann trying to console her. My body filled with warmth, like the press of a warm hearth on a cold winter’s night, the stars shimmering outside the window as I cuddled up with a book. Thank you for joining project epicpdf.com one more step for saving everlasting masterpieces of great minds of all nations and times. What Lies Beyond The Veil’ was so much more than I thought it would be. In the beginning the story of Estrella’s life was just horrible. The world she lived in definitely made my skin crawl. And there is a lot of mystery about ‘the Veil’ that fascinated me. Slowly on, we learn more about this world Harper L. Woods created I was totally hooked and desperate to learn more.

Come out and play with me, my star. I know you’re in there somewhere, burning away where you think no one can see you. Imagine how brightly you’d shine if you embraced all that fire.” The banter was great at times. Estrella is feisty and Caelum is very persistent. All he wants to do is protect her but she's very untrusting, so whenever he pushes, she pulls. But goodness does Caelum say a lot of great things. For example: "If this is what your hate feels like, then I can't wait to feel your love." The main character, Estrella? I’ve never wanted to strangle someone. She was so annoying with his inner monologue of “he’s gonna sleep around” and shit. GIRL YOUR BROTHER TRIED TO KILL YOU MAYBE FOCUS ON THAT. Not to mention how dumb she was, HE IS OBVIOUSLY NOT HUMAN.

The veil is there for a reason, mankind is not ready to go beyond what they know as Truth, because most use their minds rather than their Hearts. it wasn’t a TERRIBLE book, but it definitely wasn’t amazing either. it was pretty much the walmart version of acotar and fbaa soooo yeah. i did really enjoy it for the first 40% before it started to fall flat for me, so i’m not sure if i’ll be reading the next book in the series. (2.5⭐️)

When Estrella meets Caelum, she is not sure if she can trust him. Especially since most men have shown her, she can’t be trusted. But something in Caelum draws him. And when Caelum is the only one she can turn to, she is now forced to trust him with her own life. Just know this review comes right after I finished the book and it might be a little all over the place. I just couldn't sit down and write a proper one, because this book frustrated me. Also, it contains spoilers, I guess. There is beauty in knowing who you are, and in embracing that in spite of the potential consequences. When Estrella meets Caelum, she isn’t sure if he can be trusted. Especially since most man have shown her, they can’t be trusted. But there is something about Caelum that speaks to her. And when Caelum is the only one she can turn to, she is forced to trust him with her life.

Overall, I was intrigued by the storyline and worldbuilding, however, the characters and romance fell short for me. Regardless, I am curious as to what happens next, so I may read the next book. What Lies Beyond The Veil” was much more than she thought. At first, Estrella’s life story was just terrible. The world she lived in definitely made me cringe. And there are many mysteries about “the veil” that have intrigued me. We are slowly learning more about this world that Harper L. Woods created. I was totally hooked and really wanted to know more. This book was something, a very mediocre something. From the get go our main character was a carbon copy of every other female mc in the fantasy genre right now. The book also holds some very clear similarities to other popular books, to the point where it seems to have very clearly borrowed other elements. Nobody owns any plot point or genre, but the similarities here were a bit too much for me to brush off, but I’ll let you decide that for yourself. Then we have Caelum, who’s type I am usually down bad for, but something about him did not sit right with me. Like Estrella his character was very inconsistent, just not to the same extreme. For example - he would stress how Estrella always had a choice with him (how very Rhys), but in the same breath tell her what to do. The line between protective and misogynistic was a little too thin, and by the end, had me hoping a new love interest would be introduced. I read a good amount of dark romance.. so it really wasn’t the content that bothered me, but the way it was delivered. That being said, I think there is potential for him to be redeemed in the next book if done right. There are a lot of things we are left unsure about, leaving room for both characters to develop and grow as the story continues. The ending was not what I was expecting. Now I just want to know what happens next! Where the story takes off from here. I'll definitely be reading the next book!I’m not wearing any trousers.” “And that is the problem. I like my intestines in my stomach and not shoved into my lungs.” Here’s the thing about this book–it’s predictable. The “big reveal” at the end… not so big. It was obvious from the first time the two main characters meet. That predictability, however, I don’t think was altogether accidental.
