Two different distilleries where chosen to a given House. For House Stark we have Clynelish and for Targaryen we have Caol Ila. It makes sense, given the styles of Scotch whisky that the folks at Johnnie Walker were aiming for. Final Thoughts: The best place to start is how refreshing this Scotch was. One could envision pouring an entire pint glass of it over ice and not bat an eye until it’s too late. The lightness and fruit certainly do lend themselves as to the name A Song of Ice. A Song of Fire is described as “rich and spicy” with “subtle smoke” from the peated malts of the Caol Ila Distillery in Islay.

This whisky is supposed to evoke the idea of being around dragons by its use of Caol Ila in the blend. A workhorse distillery that makes up the main peaty component of all standard Johnny Walker blends, but seems to be all but absent from this blend. I was hoping for a massive peat-forward blend that poured like a bonfire, but as you’ll see below, it was barely a match strike. There is as much for people to discover and explore within the world of whisky as there is within the world of the show. Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice features single malts from Clynelish, one of Scotland’s most northern distilleries, and exudes a crisp, clean taste like the unforgiving force of ice that shapes mountains and stops rivers. The new blend has an ABV of 40.2% and the bottle design evokes an icy setting with frosted blue and gray colors inspired by the North, known for its cold winters and frozen landscapes. Johnnie Walker A Song of Fire is rich and spicy, boasting flavors of subtle smoke from the peated malts of the Caol Ila distillery with an ABV of 40.8%. Inspired by the dragons of House Targaryen, feared for their fire breathing, the bottle design evokes a fiery setting with deep-red colors. Johnnie Walker A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire are two new Scotch whisky blends that honor the enduring legacy of Game of Thrones. Wrapped into a breath-taking fiery red bottle, it also features golden sparks and a fire-breathing dragon from House Targaryen. With a searing ABV of 40.8%, this limited-edition Scotch Whisky is a perfect collectible for those who want to rule the seven kingdoms. After seeing the excitement there was for White Walker by Johnnie Walker, we are thrilled to celebrate the end of an epic tale by offering more quality whisky for fans of the show and whisky enthusiasts to collect and enjoy.” Johnnie Walker A Song of Fire is inspired by the fierce dragons of Daenerys Targaryen, showcasing peated whisky from the Islay-based Caol Ila distillery. Bottled at 40.8%, this whisky has a more full-bodied flavor, with a hint of spice, notes of subtle red fruit, and sweet smoke. Game of Thrones | Johnnie Walker A Song of Fire Tasting Notes
