While the generalisations are fascinating, and the basic biology explained well, it is not written by a scientist and a lot of the assessments are very simplistic. Boys and girls, and women and men, can become equally skilled in any area, through practice, teaching and determination. On days when I am suffering from contagious teenage brain, that is just perfect, as any complicated text is likely to make me drift off and stare at the wall while unconsciously destroying my fountain pen or knitted cardigan. All jokes aside being a parent is the BEST and most rewarding job in the world but also the hardest, there are no instructions with this job but so far this book is really helping me to try to understand their teenage years, because I find that even though my boys are now taller than I am , they are still very young and child like in their ways sometimes as they try to adapt to growing up to suit their new adult bodies.
