The only real downside of the Sports Tech is that you are limited to 15kg per dumbbell but for many people this will be sufficient and for the price it offers excellent value for money. There is a Selecttech App that can be used to provide further tips and exercises to perform with these dumbbells but the reality is anything you can do with a standard dumbbell can be done with the 552s. In terms of cost, they are not at the top end but are certainly not at the bottom end either – we have secured the best price we could find below. We tested the 25kg model but there is also a version that has a maximum weight of just 12.5kg. The 12.5kg model is cheaper but will limit you in terms of progression after time. The weights will then attach itself to the bar, with the remaining weight remaining on the base station. It works just like a vending machine, and the technology behind it is really clever.
