The Long Dream (from The Story of the Mysterious Tunnel,トンネル奇譚 Ton'neru kitan), a story about a man who claims that the length of his dreams are becoming longer and longer and about how he begins to change as his dreams extend farther and farther. It's notably lighter than other Junji Ito works, specifically because the protagonist survives her encounter with the various monsters. Hanging Blimp (found in Shiver) is Ito’s eerie and chilling storytelling skills at their absolute peak. While his art is praised most often for its body horror quality, Hanging Blimp is what most expertly shows off his plotting and the strength of his mental forge.

The latter is one of Junji Ito’s best-known short stories and tells of a cliff face with human-shaped holes. People are compelled, to the point of obsession, to go in them when they realise they perfectly match them.
