There will always be someone in this life who just doesn’t like you, no matter how hard you try to please them. There will always be something that you say, or do, which causes offence or division. Whether you meant to or not. There will always be someone who finds fault in you, your life AGE HOWEVER YOU LIKEI mean, you do you.If you want to pull and tweak and tighten and brighten.Go for it.Why not?Is it making you happy?Good, life is short.Take the happiness wherever it appears. But… If that doesn’t make you happy and you seek another way.You could just age my friend. Find a role model, be

Donna Ashworth shares exclusive poem - Scottish Field Donna Ashworth shares exclusive poem - Scottish Field

Donna Ashworth's poetry reminds us that love and grief are intertwined, and life's true treasure lies in those we hold most dear. Today I’m reviewing a poetry collection by Donna Ashworth. Three books Love, Life and Loss. I’ve been dipping in and out of these for the last week and I have to say I’ve loved them all. Love is full of words to remind us of the love in our lives, where it can be found, that it is powerful and so so important. Life covers just that, beginnings, endings, age, all sorts really and it’s been wonderful to sit at the end of the day and read one of these, they bring a sense of peace on the hamster wheel that is Life. Loss was a harder read for me and I have not yet read all of this collection. There are poems for loss in all its forms, I have particularly found solace in ‘There will always be loss’, simple words that speak loud and at the right time are always good. One Day… An army of furious older women will take over the world. And I want to be there at the front. Because one day, every woman wakes up and realises, that quite frankly, they put themselves through hell. Trying to fit in, trying to be enough, to be attractive, to be acceptable, to beAfter the bestselling I Wish I Knew, Donna Ashworth has now produced an extraordinary three-volume collection of poems that will touch and inspire every reader in the ups and downs we all face in love, in life and in loss. These brilliantly accessible poems bring delight, comfort and strength in the height of romance, the darkness of grief and the endlessly unpredictable moments in between. Loss : after losing my mum recently this part of the audiobook resounded firmly with me. It helped me deal with the daily feelings I have, and helped me understand that these feelings are relevant .

Loss: Poems to better weather the many waves of grief

I recommend this collection to anyone who would like to read something that inspires a few minutes of quiet contemplation. And it will hurt like hell…. You’re going to lose people along the way People you thought you’d never lose. People you truly believed would always be there. And it’s going to hurt like hell. But that, my friend, is life People change, relationships change. Some evolve. Some disintegrate. Some people leave through no will people who like themselves as they are don’t judge they don’t look for flaws neither do they filter your words for signs of weakness they have learned to stop all that they accept themselves naturally and so they accept you too just as you are” Tell the teenagersThat this will not go on forever, that very very soon, their life will begin again and it will begin in glorious technicolour. Tell the teenagersThat they are not being left behind, that all the other young people are waiting too, this stress is collective. Tell the teenagersThat night is darkest before dawn, There will be days, my friend…. When you feel like you just can’t go on. Just keep swimming. Breathe in and breathe out and wait for the light of a new day to dawn. There will be days, my friend…. When nothing seems to be making sense. It’s not supposed to. Clear your mind andTo My Babies, Whatever choices you make in this life, wherever you go, whomever who you choose to share it with…I want you to keep coming home.I want you to know, that in this fast-paced, crazy world in which we live – you always have a safe place to rest your weary head – and You can have a friend, one single friend, whose support is so fierce, so fabulously fierce, that you feel like there is an army behind you.” Who was your first celebrity fan and how does it feel to have all these household names enjoying your poems? Follow the flawed, the real, the messy. Follow the women who say it like it is, no filter, no glossing, no bull. Follow those people who accept themselves, and you, as you are. And leave the rest to edit their lives to perfection,”

Goodreads Loss: Poems to better weather the many waves of grief - Goodreads

A short but uplifting funeral poem by famous Victorian poet Christina Rossetti, about saying goodbye to a loved one. Watch your words they can break down walls and build bridges but they can just as easily break a beautiful spirit.” Be the kind of woman you want to call when things go wrong. Be the motivator, the encourager of dreams. Be the kind of fierce friend you want to have yourself. Love your girlfriends deeply, they are your sister warriors in this world and only they know just what a crazy, hormonal ride womanhood really I recently reviewed another book by this poet so was quite excited to read this one as well. Donna Ashworth has an easy style that invites readers in. She also offers something to think about in each of her poems. In these ways, she reminds me of another favorite poet of mine, Mary Oliver. This is high praise. This book is for everyone, because no matter how much we are prepared for loss, we are not. Loss is always sudden, even when expected. It seeps in with time, showing up unannounced at sight or feeling of something we relate to the lost ones. This collection is about dealing with those feelings, dealing with the trauma of loss, accepting the status of loss, healing the wounds, the scars and scabs left by loss. This poem by Rabindranath Tagore is a reflection on the narrator’s contentment with his life and gratitude to his or her friends for their companionship and support. The poem ends with a hope that they will live on after death in the memory of these friends. This talented and prolific Canadian painter uses acrylic on canvas. See more of his work… Janet Carr

Love: Poems to bolster every heart that ever beat by Donna

It’s been so very positive. I’m no longer alone in every decision and have some fabulous people to sound things out with. The quality of the print-work and the skills of all the team make my work so much better too. It’s been a wonderful ride so far and I am looking forward to the future. All-encompassing, honest and relatable, Life, Love and Loss will resonate with anyone who has experienced the joy and heartbreak that travel alongside being a parent, child, partner or friend. These poems give us the insight to grow, turning the compassion we have for others towards ourselves and teaching us to create memories full of peace, laughter and fearlessness in this magnificent and challenging journey we call life. To the woman who has lost her spark. To the woman whose get up and go, has well and truly gone. This is for you. This is to remind you whose daughter you are. This is to remind you, that you don’t have to be everything to everyone, every day. You didn’t sign up for

Advance Praise

You are snaking a shimmering pathway full of love and joy sincerity and kindness companionship and loyalty and you-ness all over the place and you don’t even see it.” With poems such as 'That Thing You Do', 'Through the Wringer' and 'Rope Ladder', Donna helps us to remember that most people in this world are good, and that acts of kindness and love within our individual spheres of influence, however small, all contribute to a better future. She also gently guides us, no matter how busy or overburdened we may be, to practice better self-care and self-acceptance. What if we’re not just tired. What if it’s our souls that are exhausted? The kind of tired that sleep won’t remedy, that fresh air or good food won’t help. You see, when the world is in crisis (and it is), your soul becomes weary with the weight of collective grief. With the magnitude of problems which need to
