We have few biblical examples of men/women in the actual “Presence of God” but ALL of them describe the person in a most humbled state, perhaps even realizing their own sins more than the glory of God. There is no account of any of these people going about bragging about their “encounter with God”, no account of any of these people encouraging others to seek a similar “experience”, and no account of these people degrading others for not have a similar experience (but this is another of the ‘undertones’ of all those who push their listeners to seek the same nonsense). We do find accounts of Peter and Paul giving a brief summary of their experiences but neither lent itself to bragging, only what was necessary at the time for their hearers. Peter, James and John obeyed Christ and kept their mouth shut after seeing Him in His glory on the Mount of Transfiguration.As seen in this quote, the person gives Jesus Calling to people in the hopes it will lead them to seek Scripture. But she does not give evidence that the book does this. God can use a book that is not biblical but He does this in spite of its flaws; this does not mean the book is valid. Jesus Calling in this example becomes a substitute for the Bible. We must consider how this could mislead non-Christians into thinking these words are from Jesus; the priority should be truth, not what is appealing. So far, all the defenses of this book I have seen, including in dialogues I’ve had with the book’s devotees, have been subjective and based on experiences with the book.
