Light up your immersion with the new Razer Hammerhead True Wireless—cutting-edge earbuds destined to dominate the soundstage. Marshall Honorof is a senior editor for Tom's Guide, overseeing the site's coverage of gaming hardware and software. This no-nonsense pair of earbuds comes with three different sized ear tips (small, medium, large), so you can find the best fit for you.

Removing the tips requires you to dig a fingernail under a tiny rubber dome, which is not the easiest thing in the world. They work as intended and are a nice addition for those wanting to use this set while playing, watching, or listening on their phone. While watching Hateful 8, the bells on the horses seemed to jingle quite loudly and in Solo: A Star Wars Story, blaster sounds were also surprisingly prominent.

The set is also a solid, agreeable gadget that has a few too many drawbacks to make the leap from "good" to "great. This version of the Hammerhead comes in a stealthy all black with the Razer logo on the back of each ear pod. The bass sits just in the pocket so you shouldn’t expect to be shaken every time there’s an explosion but it’s present enough to feel like you’re getting the full experience. While I had my issues with the Hammerhead Duo, I should point out that my experience wasn't universal. Compared to single driver headphones, dual drivers allow for more effective sound separation and produce clearer and louder audio that is free from distortion – resulting in a crisper, more precise audio experience whether you are catching up on your favourite TV series or music playlist on the go.

While not a perfect headset, it is definitely a contender for those looking for a high-quality sound in a small package. Angled nozzles allow the earbuds to rest comfortably in the ear canal, and the braided cable resists undue tangling. You will hear an audible cue “Bluetooth Connected” from the earbuds to confirm that they are connected to yourdevice. The “Duo” in the name refers to the use of two different drivers in each ear which produce more balanced and detailed audio than a pair of single-driver headphones. Having a third-party microphone that supports voice chat on Nintendo Switch is also a rarity, although there aren’t many games we’d consider using it with.I definitely prefer this over those straight ones as it doesn’t get in the way when you’re mobile gaming on landscape mode. Razer’s newest addition to its series of in-ear headphones is a quality pair for anyone looking for a detailed and mostly balanced listening experience. A dynamic driver sits in the aluminum frame while a balanced armature driver sits in the tip of each earphone to provide a more precise experience.

Comprised of two earbuds and a control panel for adjusting volume, microphone and play/pause functionality, the small form factor seems really attractive. Oh, do note that this rendition of the Hammerhead doesn’t come with a carrying pouch so keep that in mind when you’re packing it. You can also toggle between Active Noise Cancellation and Quick Attention Mode in the Razer Audio mobileapp. If you read my last review on the Hammerhead USB-C ANC, you would know that I’m a frequent traveler by bus. Since Razer doesn’t include a way to manage the cable, you may need to tuck the other earbud cable into your shirt to keep it out of the way. If you really love using earbuds and primarily use them when playing PC games, you're probably better off with a set of high-end, wireless music buds. I don't think the cable will fall apart anytime soon, but it seems a little less durable than a plain, strong cord. The signature handcrafted acetate body and stainless steel case are infused with updated technical features and maintain our signature brilliant sound. The Hammerhead True Wireless Pro has an advantage over the Hammerhead True Wireless because the Pro variant features ear tips that seal to the ear canal.
