Description

This is great for convenience and speed of setup, but might be something you feel hinders you as time goes on and your experience (and love of vinyl) increases. Listening to the Pro-Ject T1, sound quality was completely adequate but failed to capture the magic of recordings. Effortlessly simple to set-up and produces a highly engaging, accessible sound that really makes your records sing. Made in Europe, and featuring only premium materials – there is no plastic where it shouldn’t be, as every component part is made to the same exacting standards as far more expensive designs. ProJect have a passionate belief in the importance of true stereo sound, and their turntables are a key part of that. Some parts of the T1 are very much in the traditional Pro-Ject style. The power supply is a wall wart type (except in the basic version which is captive) and the plinth is a single MDF section that is supported by three feet which - like on the other occasions I have encountered them - do a fine job of isolating the playing surface from the outside world. Thanks to the subplatter arrangement, this is also the easiest Pro-Ject to get up and running that I can remember.

If making those kind of adjustments is indeed important to you, you just might want to pay a little bit more money and get the ProJect Debut Carbon DC or the Pro-Ject T1 Phono SB. Personally, I’m a fan of acrylic platters (which is something you can find or upgrade to on other turntables), but a glass platter is certainly a nice option here. ProJect T1 vs T1BT vs T1 Phono SB One nice feature that the Pro-Ject T1 has that sets it apart from the competition is the glass platter. The platter is extremely well-made with a nice frosted finish on one side and a glossy finish on the other side. In the box is a felt turntable mat. It may not offer tons of bells and whistles, but with its solid construction, glass platter, and ability to play both 12” and 7” records, the Project T1 is a fine addition to one’s entertainment room. The tempered glass platter is not only a good solution to a resonance-free heavy platter," Heinz Lichtenegger says. "But it's also is more visually attractive than, for instance, the minimalistic designed MDF platter used on the Primary Line."

This is Pro-Ject’s pinnacle line. The Signature 10 (above) and the Signature 12 are high-end turntables that compromise nothing. They each have a mass-loaded sub-chassis, a floating turntable design and a unique S-shaped tonearm. They’re designed for the audiophile who is prepared to pay an extreme premium for a product with no caveats. To better help you, I’ve also created the interactive guide below, which will allow you to directly compare the Pro-Ject T1 to other notable record players on the market.
