Rounded down from roughly 4.5 stars ⭐️ this was my first book by Polly Phillips but I will definitely be grabbing her debut now!

Oh y'all. I was so charmed by the blurb on this one! It was straight up my alley and I was so excited to get my hands on it! I loved this second chance romance so much! The gossip columns between the chapters were so entertaining! The character building was great. You easily resonate with Liv and Ransom! Not that he has all that much school spirit, or all that great memories, much less friends from those days. Liv has unresolved feelings for Ransom. They were close friends but Ransom ended their friendship to freely date with other people without public intrusion and attracting attention of gossip columns. Adéntrate en sus páginas para saberlo. Okay, before I even dig into the the POV-party, I wanna say that there is a Novella that PRECEDES the is book, titled THE ONE NIGHT, and you should absolutely read it first. No, you don't have to. You won't necessarily be lost if you don't, but it is a great intro and really adds to this book if you read it first. There is quite a bit of sibling fighting towards the last quarter of this book and boy did it have me stressed! These three really went at each other's throat and it not only put their relationships with one another in jeopardy, it also almost costs them each the loves of their lives. And Thomas was also one of the few people on the snowbound campus that 20 December 1992 when Vinca and the teacher who was assumed to be her lover disappeared. Two main stars Liv Latimer and Ransom Joel were close friends during the filming but after the wrapping up the last episode they parted their ways. Ransom was headlined many box office smash hits as Liv chose a quieter route, pivoting to the world of low budget indie movies. You see they are about to pull down their old school Gymnasium, but these walls have secrets hidden inside them, and they sure as hell don't want them getting out!

The Romance: Reading the plot I expected an angsty second-chance romance, where the characters go through a series of deep emotions and understandable hesitations about seeing each other and working together once again. What I did not expect is the insta-love energy that Liv and Ransom show upon seeing each other after so long. Listen, I understand that some people will feel familiar no matter how much time has passed especially if they were extremely close in the past. However, when two people have a major falling out and don’t speak for 14 YEARS, I’d think they would try to become reacquainted with each other and talk about what happened BEFORE exchanging flirty texts and making out. This author evidently disagrees. Liv does have a series of cautious thoughts contrasted with her attraction to Ransom who she has always had a crush on. Yet, it felt like she was in love with the memory of him and what they had in the past. Suffice to say even the cute moments Liv and Ransom shared as they reconnected in adulthood didn’t make their romance feel particularly special or substantial to me.
