Description

The Madeira & PX versions will be in stores on 1 April and will be exclusive to travel retail. The French Oak version was transferred to Pineau de Charentes casks (a first for Balvenie) – this will only be available in the UK. Unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise, your use of and membership to the Service are exclusively governed by Dutch law. We shall first try to settle any dispute over a dram of whisky. Disputes that cannot be settled over multiple drams of whisky shall be solely submitted to the court of Amsterdam, The Netherlands unless mandatory applicable law provides otherwise.

According to brand owner William Grant & Sons (WGS), both expressions will be listed by all key retailers with brand activation support through major airports including Hainan, Seoul Incheon and Jeju Taoyuan in Asia. In Europe, several high-profile promotions have been agreed with Gebr Heinemann for airports including Amsterdam Schiphol, Frankfurt, Berlin, Budapest, Copenhagen, Vienna and Munich. But wait, there’s more. Extending – and completing – the Balvenie Cask Finishes collection are three expressions, The Balvenie Madeira Cask 15YO, The Balvenie French Oak Cask 16YO, and The Balvenie Pedro Ximénez 18YO. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. If we decide not to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms, such decision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”).Already pre-announced a few months ago and now confirmed: Bowmore launches a Bowmore 1969 50 Year Old as the last part of the series called Ultimate Rare Collection. It follows the footsteps of a 1966, 1965 and 1964 edition. It is a combination of bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks. Only 113 bottles available for around € 40.000 each.

Throughout the cask’s journey, it was exposed to the heat of the sun, naturally sweetening the wine it held, and in turn leading to the creation of what’s described as a light and lively whisky. The Balvenie Peated Triple Cask Aged 14 Years is the result of trials undertaken in 2001 by The Balvenie Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE and our former distillery manager Ian Millar. We’re delighted to be launching The Balvenie Cask Finishes Range with two exclusive editions for Global Travel Retail,” said Lindsay Hitzeroth, WG&S Head of Customer Marketing, GTR. “The channel has always been about discovery, offering consumers the opportunity to find something new and different, yet with the confidence of brand knowledge and integrity. As travel now begins to show real recovery in the aftermath of Covid, we will continue to inspire and engage consumers with The Balvenie 15yo Madeira Cask and 18 yo Pedro Ximénez Cask, both delivering the quality of liquid and iconic appeal that luxury shoppers will be searching for.” Taste: Ripe fruitiness from fresh peaches lead to a citrus orange zing, hazelnuts and crisp oakiness coating the pallet.

First Cask: Many years of maturation in traditional American Oak whisky barrels mellows the maturing spirit and imparts warming layers of honey and vanilla. Nose: Balanced light floral notes from lotus and geranium flowers dance between hints of fresh meadow grass and peeled apple skin. The trials were started at a time when few Scottish distilleries were producing any whisky at all due to a slowdown in the Scotch industry. It was Ian’s drive to innovate and David’s need to create new flavours that lay the foundations for future whiskies with peated malt. Our peated whiskies are a testament to the freedom we enjoy as a family company and show The Balvenie in an unexpected way, but remain true to our distillery style. Palate: Stone fruits – meat and peels together, orange peels, dusty, nuttiness, cinnamon and white pepper, oak spices, ginger and gentle bitterness, more cinnamon, reaching good balance of sour and sweet. A very soft delivery and could benefit from more oomph (why not 46%?)

The upcoming Hazelburn 15 Years Oloroso Cask will be bottled in April 2022. It is a more or less yearly release, one that is often really good – we already reviewed the 2020 and 2018 edition. It comes at 54.2% ABV with a yield of 9000 bottles. It is the first time The Balvenie is using Pineau casks in its 129 years of history. It may also be – we are almost certain – the first time any Scottish distillery has officially launched a commercially available whisky expression employing such casks. At the same time there is a new Bowmore 30 Year Old (1989 vintage, around € 2300) and Bowmore 40 Year Old (159 bottles, around € 8000).Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. If no such law exists in a Member’s country of residence, the Member has to be over 21 years old to use the Service. We have the right to ask you to provide proof of your age and/or to provide further identification to prevent underage usage and/or for any other legal or legitimate purpose. By using the Service, and by creating an account you represent, warrant and confirm that you are of legal age. The travel retail Cask Finishes range now includes Madeira Cask 15 Year Old and Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask 18 Year Old. We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. Since then the Banffshire, Speyside-based distillery has continued to employ cask finishing for many of its whiskies, particularly the Balvenie DoubleWood 12YO, Caribbean Cask 14YO, and PortWood 21YO in what it now calls the Balvenie Cask Finishes collection. Taste: A modern classic fruit fusion of tart grape skin, mandarin & fig flow together with vibrant oak to coat the mouth with a delicate oil and honeyed sweetness.

Here are three new drops that should excite whisky lovers who like a taste of something less ordinary. Single malt Scotch whisky brand The Balvenie has released the final three expressions in its Balvenie Cask Finishes range in Singapore. Many years of maturation in traditional American Oak whisky barrels mellows the maturing spirit and imparts warming layers of honey and vanilla. Finishing in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts creates a fusion of sweet lavender, mandarin, fig, and subtle clove. Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. The Balvenie’s Cask Finishes Range offers a unique range of rich and complex flavours, perfect for ardent lovers or newcomers who seek an exploration of whiskies like no other,” said Brett Bayly, Regional Brand Ambassador for The Balvenie South East Asia. Nose: Nutty and soft in the Balvenie tradition, then there’s the Madeira casks influence with baked fruits, pears, peaches and apricots sprinkled with white pepper. More nuttiness with stronger cinnamon, fruitiness is getting a floral and with perfume-y vibe along with honey (probably from the original bourbon casks, white and milk chocolate. A very nice and pleasant nose even at 43%.All entrants must be U.K residents. Any account created from any other country will be deleted and their entry fee will be forfeit.
