Feeling like she doesn't measure up to her ""drop-dead gorgeous"" friends, Ellie tries to take control of her weight, and ends up battling bulimia, in Girls Under Pressure by Jacqueline Wilson, Continue reading » I would recommend this book to children aged 10-14/15, or anybody, young or old, who is grieving. It is helpful and I recommend it. It seems like we were on to something, as Jenny got in touch to say, 'One of the reasons I began writing was because my students at the time kept asking me what they could read once they had read all Jacqueline Wilson's books. I'm a big JW fan!' Wilson (Double Act) here introduces an animated heroine who delivers droll observations in a self-assured voice with a decidedly British accent. ""I love fooling around, doing crazy things and being Continue reading » I would rate this book 5/5 stars because it was written very well and it flowed very nicely. I loved it.

(Jean was a popular choice - Jake suggested she's great for 'inventive and imaginative use of narrative'.)

We know it's so easy to get attached to a favourite author, and when their books are as good as Jacqueline Wilson's, it's no surprise that some children feel like they'll never find anything they love as much. My favourite characters were Jade, because I empathized with her throughout and I was interested in her personality. I also liked Sam, because I thought that he was so kind and the perfect kind of friend for Jade. Jacqueline is also a great reader, and has amassed over 20,000 books, along with her famous collection of silver rings. Note: The rest of this review has been withdrawn due to the changes in Goodreads policy and enforcement. You can read why I came to this decision here. Anne Cambridge: The French teacher at Jade's school. She is strict when teaching but is a nice person and suggests that Jade speaks to Stevie Wainwright, a grief counselor. Double Act won the prestigious Smarties Medal and the Children’s Book Award as well as being highly commended for the Carnegie Medal. The Story of Tracy Beaker won the 2002 Blue Peter People’s Choice Award.I started with the Persian translated book. I was halfway through the book when I realised there's something wrong, switched to the original book just to find out I'm confronting a totally different book! The translator deleted scenes and words she didn't like! Oh and that mom's boyfriend character was deleted completely! Like, completely! Win a copy of The Story of Tracy Beaker - signed by Jacqueline Wilson Books for younger readers in the middle of extreme Jacqueline Wilson fandom who want to mix it up just a bit An unexceptional mix of familiar plot devices, this British import is almost gratingly obvious. Ten-year-old twins Ruby and Garnet take turns narrating, and although their voices aren't especially Continue reading » So what would she suggest? 'Two other writers who focus on "real life", friendships and whose books have a similar warmth to Jacqueline Wilson's are Perdita and Honor Cargill and Katy Birchall,' she tweeted. There you go! What has worked for actual Jacqueline Wilson fans? Absolutely amazing book. I've read Jaqueline Wilson as the first proper books I was able to read. Every time I enter the school library I go straight to the J section to see the books. This was the saddest yet (apart from The Longest Wale Song) And absolutely beautiful!!!!! I loved it!!!!!

You've got an absolutely perfect figure and you know it, so stop showing off," I say, giving her a nudge. Then I slip my hand through the crook of her elbow so we're linked. "Please please pretty please join the Drama Club with me?" British author Jacqueline Wilson presents the third title in her Girls trilogy, Girls Out Late. Ellie goes ga-ga over a new boy, but when she breaks her curfew to meet up with him, her plan Continue reading »An immensely readable novel which handles serious issues – fractured families, the nature of celebrity – with the lightest of touches. Jacqueline is one of the nation’s favourite authors, and her books are loved and cherished by young readers not only in the UK but all over the world. She has sold millions of books and in the UK alone the total now stands at over 35 million! One thing I've noticed about the books on this list is that a lot of them are very sad. I suppose people remember books that make them feel sad, or maybe people voted for books that helped them deal with their own grief or something.
