On its own though, study is of no use unless the knowledge acquired is implemented within our lives - ultimately we will be rewarded or punished according to our actions, not our knowledge. The vast variety of races and cultures embraced by Islam (an estimated total of more than 1.5 billion persons worldwide in the early 21st century) has produced important internal differences. All segments of Muslim society, however, are bound by a common faith and a sense of belonging to a single community. With the loss of political power during the period of Western colonialism in the 19th and 20th centuries, the concept of the Islamic community ( ummah), instead of weakening, became stronger. The faith of Islam helped various Muslim peoples in their struggle to gain political freedom in the mid-20th century, and the unity of Islam contributed to later political solidarity. When he reads the life story of the Prophet (SAW) he finds numerous examples of the Prophet’s excellent conduct, big-heartedness and good humor towards his wives, and then gets motivated to demonstrate the kind treat to his wife, be gentle and tolerant, and avoid exercising unnecessary control over her and shows the attitude of easy-going so long as it does not go against the limits set by Islam. Beautiful phrases - such as Subhana l-lahi wa bi-hamdihi (how perfect Allah is and I praise Him), La ilaha illallah (there is none worthy of worship except Allah), Alhamdulillah (All praise is due to Allah) and Allahu Akhbar (Allah is greater) - can be repeated throughout the day and are a great way of showing gratitude to Allah. We find numerous prophetic stories that show the compassion and affection of the prophets towards their families in the Noble Book Quran. While many Muslims choose to celebrate Mawlid al-Nabi, other Muslims do not consider it appropriate to celebrate and instead prefer to mark the day with quiet reflection and prayers. However they spend the actual day of Mawlid al-Nabi, all Muslims show the greatest of respect to the Prophet Muhammad. In other words, the key to success in marriage is the chastity and the moral quality of the partner. The ideal Muslim bridegroom therefore approaches to the marriage with accountable attitude of a person which contributes to establishing a family on the best possible foundation of love and mutual compassion, and not of obsession over beauty, desire for wealth or social status. Read the Qur'an as much as you can. Seek an understanding of Islam directly from it's authentic source. You will strengthen your personal faith if you understand Arabic, the language your faith is based upon. Make a practice of reading the Qur'an every day for at least a few minutes, or longer if you are able, as well as moments when you feel your faith waver or your focus on Allah falter. Hang out with good Muslim friends. Aim to make friends who share your mission of being a good Muslimah and who influence you to do better, or friends who are at least open to your religion. Try to reserve close friendships for other Muslimahs who encourage you to learn and practice Islam.
