Description

In confined enclosures it is possible for a Pi to overheat. The conditions needed are that the heat generation while running at 600 MHz along with other components is greater than the dissipation of heat from the enclosure. First; the screen. It boasts a 4-inch IPS touch screen LCD capable of pushing a maximum resolution of 800 x 480 and a refresh rate of 60 Hz. We recorded good color accuracy and a sharp image during our time with the Miuzei Raspberry Pi 4 Touchscreen with Case & Fan. The only reason I ask this is because currently just testing it over the course of maybe 2 hours, the Pi heats up significantly. From OKdo, the freestanding Pi 4 screen case is designed to house your Raspberry Pi 7 LCD touch screen along with your Raspberry Pi 4 board neatly behind it. This versatile case is suitable for use with the Raspberry Pi 4. The enclosure consists of the main RPi LCD touch screen and board casing with a removable rear cover which simply snaps together. The case is made out of injection-moulded ABS plastic, so it can be drilled or machined for additional customization (invalidates warranty!). Notes

Would you regard this as 'fatal' as Bengt says? Or could you do a simple work-around by using a male-female short extension USB-C cord from the RPi board to the power port hole in the case, after unsoldering the Argon One port? Those looking to hook their Pi up to a massive display should look no further than the SunFounder Raspberry Pi Display with a screen size usually reserved for laptops: a generously sized 13.3-inch IPS LCD capable of a crisp 1920 x 1080 resolution and fluid 60 Hz refresh rate. The 5V low power requirements is another highlight, with the Elecrow 5 Inch Raspberry Pi Touchscreen Display sourcing enough power to run from either the GPIO pins on the Pi or micro-USB port with any standard Pi power supply. The Elecrow 5 Inch Raspberry Pi Touchscreen Display isn’t the most impressive or expensive Raspberry Pi touch screen out there, but that’s why we like it so much: it’s affordable yet has an excellent quality display equipped with everything required for a large variety of projects.

Best Raspberry Pi Cases: Considerations

As you said, i was unable to find a "closed" case including space for a recharging battery with a screen ( with ou without touch). A cooling fan is included to keep everything at the ideal operating temperature, which is fitted with the included rubber anti-vibration mounts to minimise fan noise. In the case of Raspberry Pi screens, sizes tend to be smaller compared to full-fat PC monitors and are more in line with those found on tablets, in the range of 4-inches to 10-inches in a lot of cases, although it’s entirely possible to use laptop-sized screens such as 13-inches or 15-inches with no issues. We’ve included a couple of those above for those among you that require a large viewing area for their Raspberry Pi project. The screen is also lightweight at 2 lbs and measures no more than 0.3-inches in width, making it an ultra-portable option despite the large screen size. We also like that it ships with a foldable Smart Case that also doubles as a multi-position stand and holder for the included Smart Pen. This 10-inch display comes with its own stand and has dual speakers, so everything sounds as good as it looks. Not only is it compatible with the Raspberry Pi suite of products, but this display will also work with your computers and gaming consoles.

However, the options we do have all appear to be quality choices for your new vulnerable panel of glass. Basic Frame I would choose a quiet 80mm fan and mount that with a dust filter so it draws air into the enclosure. There needs to be some places where the air can vent out. Ideally the Pi and other electronics would be placed where there is airflow. The top section of the case has a series of stylized fins which aid in the removal of heat and provide a certain “industrial” aesthetic. Passively cooling the Raspberry Pi, the performance is similar to Pimoroni’s version. But adding the fans drops the temperatures significantly and the combined cooling this case can keep your Pi cool under load for a full day.

The SilverStone Pi02 is a case for those that wish to use their Raspberry Pi 4 as a desktop computer or as a server. It provides great cooling and while it may not look fancy, it does have a robust, industrial look to it. Those looking for a screen with a size typically found on a laptop should find plenty to be excited about with the SunFounder Raspberry Pi Display and its 1080p resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate, and integrated ports/controls. This head turning case really stands out from the crowd thanks to a gem pattern design on top of the sandblasted silver anodised aluminum. The case has a textured matte finish and clean edges. Around the case are cutouts for all the major ports on the Pi. Camera and Display cables will need to be routed via the slot about the micro SD cutout. A separate GPIO slot is low on the case, requiring a breakout board for general use.

Best for: Touchscreen projects (i.e. Dashing, Smashing, Mycroft AI) 11. TFT Touchscreen Kuman 3.5-inch Display with Protective Case

The case may be larger than typical Raspberry Pi 4 cases, and the gem pattern may not be to everyone’s taste but there is no denying that this unique looking case is one of the best passively cooled cases for the Raspberry Pi 4.

Notes

This metal case and 3.5" TFT Touchscreen has been custom-designed to fit the Raspberry Pi 4 and is a great combination of a robust housing with a small, clear display and touch control! Although most Raspberry Pi boards, except for the Zero, are compatible with almost any case, there’s a bit of variety. Most Raspberry Pi 3 cases are compatible with Raspberry Pi B+ and Pi 2 boards as well. The primary element dictating which case is best for your Raspberry Pi is form factor. If you have a newer Pi board, you’re usually fine with any case. Which Raspberry Pi you're using largely dictates if a case will work. The Raspberry Pi Zero and Zero W require a different case than the Raspberry Pi 3 B+. Virtually every Pi 2 through Pi 3 B+ case should work for Raspberry Pi 2, 3, and 3 B+ boards. There's also the Raspberry Pi 3 A+ with a smaller footprint. And the introduction of the Raspberry Pi 4 ushered in a hardware refresh that fractured compatibility with Pi 3 B+ cases. But what you plan to use your case for shapes what design and functionality you’ll need. For instance, if you require a hard drive, you’ll want a different case than for a retro gaming console. A Raspberry Pi board array will differ from a single Pi setup. If you’ve ever wished you could play on a Raspberry Pi Zero like you play on a Nintendo Game Boy, the Retroflag GPi case will absolutely make your wish come true. Aside from the Pi Zero itself and microSD card, the GPi Case comes with everything you need to create a portable, handheld gaming experience.
