Ferraro, Susan (October 14, 1990). "Novels You Can Sink Your Teeth Into". The New York Times . Retrieved May 15, 2020. I promised myself thtat I had finished with this saga after the enormous fiasco that supposed to me reading Prince Lestat and the kingdoms of Atlantis, and that this saga that I had liked so much in its beginnings and so much tumbling had given was no longer the same. But as usually happens, there is a long way from said to fact, and in the end I chose to read it. Although it also helps to know that, this time, the saga ends here, for better or worse. I will always defend Anne Rice. She's made questionable choices over the years but her initial vampire books still mean so much to me, and I will always jump at the chance to read her ARCs.

Para compensar, y al menos en español, es la primera edición que trae ilustraciones salpicadas entre sus páginas, un detalle curioso. a b c d e Flood, Alison (March 11, 2014). "Anne Rice revives much-loved vampire for new novel Prince Lestat". The Guardian. Archived from the original on April 16, 2014 . Retrieved April 26, 2014. Prince Lestat, which will be published in October, and which Rice finished last year, will be a sequel to the first five Vampire Chronicles stories, she announced, and novel one of a new series. The 7th book in the Vampire Chronicles. Vampires, witchcraft and voodoo come together in this vivid, exotic and terrifying novel Indeed, told completely from the perspective of The Brat Prince himself, Blood Communion is exactly the sort of epicurean tale you might expect from the vampire who simultaneously laments each of his numerous mistakes while continually ignoring any wisdom that might prevent him from making his next. The Hivemind vampires. Every character, old and new, ghost or Atlantis alien, all have the same opinion. None deviate from the opinion. There are dialogue exchanges where they all repeat the same phrase to Lestat in a row. Characters traits are gone, no one is unique. They are a mindless mob. Like I've repeated, that could be compelling if it caused real conflict, but it doesn't. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o Clute, John; Langford, David; Sleight, Graham (eds.). "Rice, Anne". The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction (4thed.) . Retrieved December 12, 2021. The first novel in the series, Interview with the Vampire (1976), was made into a 1994 film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, Christian Slater and Kirsten Dunst. The Queen of the Damned (1988) was adapted into a 2002 film of the same name, starring Stuart Townsend and Aaliyah and using some material from 1985's The Vampire Lestat. In May 2020, AMC acquired the rights to both The Vampire Chronicles and Lives of the Mayfair Witches for developing film and television projects. A seven-episode television adaptation, Interview with the Vampire, premiered on AMC on October 2, 2022, starring Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid.

Despite these differences, Rice's undead do share some similarities with mainstream vampire fiction. They are supernaturally strong and can move faster than the eye can see. Their senses are heightened and they will heal from any injury short of beheading and even reattach limbs. The act of feeding is highly sexualized in Rice's novels. Vampires both crave and need blood to sustain their unlife. While they can feed on animals, human blood is more nourishing. As they age, they're able to resist the urge more to the point where elders feed only for pleasure. There is only one vampire, only one blood drinker, truly known to the entire world of the Undead. Will the dazzling hero-wanderer, the dangerous rebel-outlaw Lestat heed the call to unite the Children of Darkness as they face this new twilight?Andreeva, Nellie (August 13, 2021). " Interview With The Vampire: Sam Reid to Play Lestat in AMC Series Based on Anne Rice's Book". Deadline Hollywood . Retrieved February 2, 2023. W]hen I found Rice's work I absolutely loved how she took that genre and (...) made [it] feel so contemporary and relevant' Sarah Pinborough, bestselling author of Behind Her Eyes Vampires suddenly become weak when there's a lot of iron around. (Why introduce this in book 13?!) That didn't at all work for the believability of some things that happened in this book.
