Over 3,000 books were deconstructed and framed to create the library. Three internal rooms allowed participants to see the exposed ceiling of the structure. Free to access and enjoy for all, the exhibition also benefited from a dedicated engagement programme working with communities of people who generally find Chatsworth hard to access, offering activities designed to leave a legacy of creative possibility and new connections with people. Architect Thom White of Norfolk’s WPA has designed a 12-sided wooden structure resembling a 4-tiered birthday cake. Art glass embellishments representing the animals of the Chinese zodiac and the constellations of the western zodiac will catch the light of the sun and sparkle like sugar in the distance. Plywood panels line each faceted tier and have perforations which recall cake icing embellishments while letting wind pass through. Flexible LED light strips are draped along the top of each level, adding to the icing motif. A propane-fueled “poofer” on the top-most tier will provide flame effects that will fire off at least once per hour at night. The exhibition starts from April 9th and ends on October 1st, 2022. Entry is free for all ages and the exhibit is open between 9:00am - 6:00pm every day. One man who attended Burning Man with a group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs told The New York Times that they used to come with "R.V.s and precooked meals."

According to California artist Zoe Fry, The Ovule Project began as a self-portrait and has become an exploration of the feminine self and the value that is found there.The intention of the piece is to ask, “Where the feminine exists, and how does it manifest? How could we value it more, and if we did what would be the benefit?” I believe that in this progressive age of exploring fluid and non-binary gender identity, we have an opportunity to heal the shared cultural wound of the feminine. I believe that healing our relationship to the feminine is the single most effective step we can take towards humanity’s metamorphosis into a creature capable of living in harmonious relationship with its environment." The artists and sculptures of Burning Man

I spoke with artist Blake Marcus, and he tells me, "While speaking with what would eventually become our art crew at the burn last year (Blake Marcus, Seven, Chris Welch, Arsenio, Lindsay Milligan), we joked about how Burning Man had nearly everything. All that was missing was a live whale. We laughed and laughed; then we stopped to think about how we could bring this preposterous idea to the dust." Chatsworth and Burning Man were introduced by Sotheby’s, who saw a synergy between the two organisations in their commitments to creativity and community. Bjarke Ingels and Jakob Lange, partners at Danish architecture studio BIG, designed a globular installation for the festival. In Danish, skum means foam and the design was made out of an inflatable material similar to that used in the construction of hot air balloons. Another brilliant interactive part of the exhibition is the wings of wind. Visitors can climb into the central circle and be slowly spun around. It feels super fun and makes for a really great photo. If you’d like to add on a walk in the beautiful Peak District before or after your visit to Burning Man at Chatsworth then this Three Shires Head walk is just half an hour away from the estate. Or you could try this Ladybower walk from the reservoir up the glorious Win Hill. Stone 40 is a truly interactive installation. Visitors are encouraged to climb up the slightly wobbly stones which definitely feel a lot higher than they are when you reach the top. The stones used were sourced from a nearby quarry and chosen to match the stonework of the house. Wings of Wind

Burning Man encapsulates an intersection between art and celebration of life. The Nevada-based festival boasts decades of innovative themes, and this year is no different.

During the day, the structure provided shade and at night, it was illuminated inside by "lightning strikes" that responded to external noise. Using a dream sequence from Chinese literature as an inspiration to adhere to the theme of this year's festival — waking dreams — a team of creatives adorned the structure with symbols and placed it upon a temple-like pedestal. According to California based artists Mr. & Mrs. Ferguson, " Bee or Not to Bee is our tribute to one of the hardest workers in the agriculture world, the honey bee. Responsible for pollinating most of the world’s crops, this little essential creature is threatened by climate change and pesticides. We are creating this 14-foot long bee to remind us of the respect we should have for a friend that does much for us." We're not going to judge people in terms of the amount of wealth they bring to the event," Burning Man founder Larry Harvey told The Guardian in 2015 in response to such complaints.

Designed with elements of ancient Egyptian and Nubian mythology in mind, Solar Shrine featured a columned temple fronted by a massive vertical "gateway". Wings of Glory is a female winged horse named Nebula Rider. She weighs around 4000lbs, elevated 20' in the air, with wings reaching almost 35' high. It was like building a space shuttle, with many people, builders, engineers and supporters all working together, and when it was ready, it shuttled everyone's imagination into the heavens, into the Nebulas of deep space. It captured people's inner child, as they would stare in absolute amazement and wonder with their mouths open wide, frozen. The moths perch atop three metal spires, the bases stretching across the ground to support richly finished wooden benches made from Douglas fir. A feat of engineering, when alight, they create a spectacular show of dancing sparks and flames. Many came to me in tears, many said it was the best thing they had seen this year or in 15 years of coming to BM.Tom West, builder of the wings and propane flame effects system, engineering consultant and supporter. As we are all descendants of animals, it was in fact animals that created humans and humans that created Gods. Despite all the green technology being discussed, Burning Man will get dirtier before it gets cleaner—and will miss its own goal of being net negative on emissions by 2030—unless the Org makes big changes. The wooden roof was transversed by long sheets of fabric that provided shade, with the whole structure oriented towards a central point. This can be anything from trash, clothes, bikes, literally anything you bring to Burning Man that wouldn’t have been there without you being present.
