Description

While its fibre-glass reinforced polyamide construction and certified water and dust protection make the NF-A14 industrialPPC suitable for operation in challenging environments, the renowned SSO2 bearing technology guarantees an MTBF of over 150,000hrs. If I can ever get some more 140mm case fans together -- think Corsair, Deepcool, Phanteks, Thermaltake, etc. They give you the widest control (this fan for example can operate as low as 300RPM) and unlike other manufacturers do not emit switching noise. I have definitely experienced far louder fans but I still would not recommend full speed for daily use.

PWM is better fan in general as you can have more accurate controlling and lower speeds than with voltage controlled ones. This problem also occurs if you try to use an in-line fan speed controller such as the one made by Gelid.Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the iconic NF-P14.

They mention that it is significantly quieter than the next best option, and the start up is now no louder than a heavy breath before settling down to silence. Noctuas AAO (Advaced Acoustic Optimization) frames have built-in vibration buffers, a stepped inlet design, and an inner surface microstructure that allows even better performance / noise efficiency. The NF-A14 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a square frame that complies with Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard. Succeeding the award-winning NF-P14 Noctua's NF-P14 fan has become a default-choice among PC enthusiasts looking for a premium quality quiet 140mm fan. Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua's proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan's performance/noise efficiency. My only gripe is the choice of colour, it's not the greatest, and doesn't really fit with any modern style casing.

Partly thanks to this design, an average Noctua fan can run no less than 150,000 hours, approximately 17 years!spacing) makes it a premium grade replacement for common 140mm case fans and perfect for use on 140mm water cooling radiators, where its square shape will ensure full coverage and best pressure performance. Thanks to the outstanding aerodynamic efficiency of the NF-A14 design and the use of a novel three-phase motor, the industrialPPC version provides superior airflow and pressure capacity while keeping noise levels and power consumption moderate as against comparable high-speed fans. Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-A14 industrialPPC uses Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD2 PWM IC for three-phase motors. Having received more than 100 awards and recommendations from the international press, Noctua's NF-A14 has become a proven premium choice for 140mm cooling needs. If you want a fan to act as an air intake, then the fan sticker will be facing the inside of the case.

To complement the coloured anti-vibration pads included with the fans, users can purchase chromax line NA-SAV2 anti-vibration mounts that enable the convenient, quick and vibration-free installation of fans in standard mounting holes for case fans. Optional coloured cables - Noctua's chromax line fans use a modular cabling system and come pre-fitted with a fully sleeved black NA-EC1 30cm cable. With SSO2, the back magnet sits closer to the fan axis for even better stabilization, resulting in further improved precision and durability.
