This book is gritty and is quite graphic in places especially when the people who no longer serve their purpose are ‘got rid of.’

There was even some sibling rivalry between DI Kelly Porter and her sister Nikki. I really enjoyed the sharp dialogue and great wit, like when Kelly was chatting to her mother... The book ends on a cliffhanger, so now I feel forced to read the next book, which has been sitting on my shelves since its release. Family secrets are hiding a legacy of lies. I am a big fan of Rachel Lynch’s DI Kelly Porter series. So, I was intrigued when I received a copy of The Rift and pleasantly surprised too. The Rift is a completely different style to the authors usual writing style. But, different in a good way. Let me say, this hit the mark exceptionally well for me. It has everything you want or need in a thriller - fab setting, plenty of twists in the tale and well structured and written. I throroughly enjoyed this ride and I hope there are many more to come like this from Canelo in the future, I have high expectations due to these two amazing thrillers that have definitely blown my mind. The past and current family interactions between Khalil and Fawaz add a depth to the story and to the international intrigue.
