The EVGA XR1 Capture Device has secretly been in use on our weekly streams for weeks without hiccups. The Second system in our configuration is the EKFG 270 Conquest, but could really be substituted for any other PC, game console, camera, or other HDMI source. Yes, if you get your hands on the XR1 you aren’t just getting a game capture device with similar features to other USB 3. While the end results are indistinguishable, there are some very minor differences in the OBS stats.

For one, it has two USB-A connectors on it, with the intention of using both for the best performance (and, it seems, the 120Hz 'pass through' mode).EVGA isn't one of them, more widely associated with graphics cards, motherboards, and power supplies. While it's attractive to look at, I really wish the XR1 Pro was a bit smaller to fit better on my cluttered desk. Where it really counts, the XR1 delivers, with great-looking video and high-quality sound backed by easy, reliable operation.

It's also worth pointing out that using a low-quality cable will also result in on-screen interference. For example, there was a pretty noticeable delay between a gun being shot in game and the sound of the bullet being fired. The encoding system’s GPU does not even particularly matter since we are using CPU-driven x264 encoding. Starting up a new game I ended up playing for nearly an hour before I realized it – and the XR1 did its 1080/60 capture thing without incident. It would sometimes function properly, or at least appear to function properly, but when we tried to utilize the setup for Skype or Zoom, we would get a black screen for the video feed.The sides have the HDMI In port, while the other has the HDMI Out and USB-C port to connect to your PC.
