a b Mateo, Alex (September 30, 2021). "Mieruko-chan Anime Casts Ikuko Tani, Yumiri Hanamori". Anime News Network . Retrieved September 30, 2021. The mc's are all ladies which is always a plus to see female leads in anime. All of them each have a cute unique charm. A Chunnibyo, ditz, and the mom of the group would be Mieruko. I'm sure you end up loving one of them for sure. No annoying/unintresting side characters here. Just a girl group all hanging together c:. because eventually, after a fairly ample amount of time it spends setting up all these little dynamics and gags, the manga finally begins it's first major story arc. and its like, actually pretty good? it is genuinely really sweet, with some fun plot reveals and mix-ups that gives its characters something to actually act as characters against that's not just a one-note gag. because it turns out the other thing that this series really understands when given the opportunity, is that it knows what ghosts are. they are what gets left behind at the end of human connection: they are the words left unsaid, things left undone, desperate pleas gone either unheard, ignored or otherwise misunderstood. they are the invisible material weight of regret and pain that weigh upon living as it slowly sinks them both down into the dirt; the final rotting epitaph of the trauma's you give and the trauma's that you take, left to fester in forgotten places until they can finally stand up and look at you and ask "Can You See Me?" Mieruko-chan is great so far. As a fan of both horror and the Slice of Life genre, this series depicting the mundanity of everyday life spliced with the unearthly experiences of wandering creatures on earth gives a sense of personal connection to the reader.

For those who claim to be "mystics" here on earth, practicing meditations or rituals to achieve mystical experiences as with tarot or ancient practices, this manga may be a refreshing reminder of their journey practicing such rituals in the modern setting.Mieuruko-chan is rather unique. It's a story about monstrous spirits that has little to no action whatsoever. There are definitely shows and manga that have taken unique spins on the idea of spirits–such as MP100–but none in the way that Mieuruko-chan has, at least from my experience.

It gets better as it goes. I didn’t love the initial chapters - I can go another lifetime without seeing spirits made entirely of hands copping a feel on somebody and them not noticing. As I alluded to, there’s a lot of odd sexual moments in the depiction of the spirits - there’s a story about a couple who clearly deserve one another that is... phew... yep. That’s sure a design. The highlights of the characters all have to do with the supernatural. But aside from that, they're pretty normal people. However, as mentioned above, Miko doesn't have much to her aside from just wanting to get a b "Mieruko-chan". Sound Cadence Studios. Archived from the original on January 28, 2022 . Not only are you asking for their take on an established story, but you're doing so with the understanding that their vision of it may not be exactly what original series fans are looking for. In the best-case scenario, you get something like the Sasaki and Miyano Official Comic Anthology, which for the most part nails the feel of the parent series and has art that is largely faithful to Shō Harusono's. While the Mieruko-chan Official Comic Anthology is by no means bad, it also doesn't achieve those heights, with most of the stories contained within its covers feeling a bit more like fanfiction than anything else.Friedman, Nicholas (August 31, 2021). "Get Spooky! Mieruko-chan Joins the Fall 2021 Season Lineup on Funimation". Funimation . Retrieved August 31, 2021. I'll be honest, at first it caught my interest because of the artwork but I was worried that the story wouldn't have been as good. I am so glad to admit that my worries were for nothing, as this is by far one of the most well-balanced manga I've ever read - easily in my top 3. Here I'll try to explain you why I think so.
