Manual Padding To Recordings: Normally, the Freeview recording boxes know when a programme starts and finishes according to the broadcaster’s signals on the EPG. In terms of connectivity, the Aura provides a wide range of options. It features HDMI, USB, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling seamless integration with your TV, external storage devices, home network, and the internet. The built-in Wi-Fi allows you to access online streaming services, enjoy over-the-air updates, and take advantage of the Aura's smart capabilities. Fixed an issue when using the T2-R with a Pioneer VSX-920-K AV receiver that caused the audio to be lost. So that leaves YouTube. If you search for “4K” on YouTube, you’ll find some interesting content – mostly nature clips and 4K movie trailers. It all looks stunning, but it’s mainly a screensaver replacement and not content you’re actually going to sit down and watch. In recent years, the BBC ran some trials with 4K contenton iPlayer – namely World Cup games, Wimbledon matches, as well as Blue Planet II, Dynasties and even Dracula.

As with every Freeview device, the number of channels it can find depends mainly on your aerial and on the Freeview signal and reception in your house. Once the scanning is finished, it’ll jump straight into Channel 001, which is, in most cases, BBC 1. Press the “Recordings” button on your remote, and you instantly get into your very own VOD library of all the programmes, series and movies you’ve recorded (and it even knows to categorise them like that). The notes reference a fix for my comments regarding the lip sync, and the picture appearing to run in fast forward for a few seconds. It doesn't seem to mention long recordings but the BTCC has finished for this year now so perhaps that will be sorted by around April 2019... They had hoped to have fix ready for last weeks update 1.04, but wasn't to be. As I posted earlier matter now with chipset manufacturer. In addition to Smart Retune, Full Retune can now be chosen from the Tuning section of Settings. The Full Retune completely removes the existing channel database and is necessary when the T2-R is moved to a new region (e.g. when moving home).Split recordings (normally movies in 2 parts) now show the time after the date so the first part can be easily identified. Further improvements to come.

By the end of the year, Manhattan TV are planning to release Version 2, which will be an even bigger update. They were willing to share with us some of the planned new features, including: The DTR-T4000 boasts two built-in tuners, allowing you to record one channel while simultaneously watching another live channel. This feature ensures that you never have to choose between your favourite programs, even if they are airing at the same time. And now – the T3-R, which combines ALL these features in one very affordable device. So at this point, if you’re looking for a Freeview box, I would say the real decision is whether you want something cheap and basic – like the T1 – or a full-featured box that will upgrade your Freeview experience, like the T3-R. However, some broadcasters tend to botch this up, and you might find some recordings end prematurely (because the programme started too late, or ran longer than expected). to those with sets they really should have replaced by now). Connected and powered up, you'll find Manhattan's onscreen tuning wizard. As with other Freeview kit, your location has to be entered so the correct channels are listed in the EPG and duplicates removed.

A fast, future-proofed and 4K-ready Freeview Play smart recorder

Not necessarily - older televisions might still require an external box to access Freeview, particularly if you want to watch channels in HD. Fixed an issue whereby the volume could not be adjusted on non-HD channels when the ‘Audio Output’ in Picture & Sound Settings was set to ‘Surround’. After discussion with Arqiva (who manage the UK’s broadcast infrastructure), we implemented improved behaviour on our latest T3-R model. This behaviour has now replaced the Automatic Service Update on the T2-R: When you turn your T2•R on for the first time after it has updated, a message will be displayed confirming the update has taken place successfully Live TV App, when installed on a mobile device and paired with the FVP-5000T when in the home, provides a multi-room solution for viewing TV in another room.

The Manhattan TV Freeview boxes are among the best in the market these days (with the Manhattan T3-R being our Editor’s Choice) – and soon they will get even better, with new upcoming features – such as support for a 3rd simultaneous channel and HDMI-CEC. Sadly, the search function doesn’t support searching within the EPG or the recorded shows, for now. Manhattan tell me they are planning to add this feature in a future update). Win: The Manhattan T2-R 500 comes with additional features that enhance your TV viewing experience. It supports on-demand services like BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub, allowing you to access a wide range of content. The device also supports catch-up TV, giving you the flexibility to watch shows you missed.

While these looked spectacular, those trials come and go, and while you can’t even watch the archived versions of Blue Planet IIand Dynastiesin 4K, other BBC 4K content is sometimes added (such as the recent Doctor Who new year special in 4K).

Version 2: More Features Coming

With manual padding, you will be able to set your own padding (extra minutes) before and after the programme you’ve set to record.
